SA coursing dates until 30 June are listed below.

The remaining dates for July – September will follow

once allocated.

We start off our season by running 4-dog stakes – which

appeases the track enthusiasts who do not wish to put

their dogs in an 8-dog stake as they don’t believe they

can run 3 times in the one day, even though it should be

remembered that its only 2 dogs that have 3 runs, and

this is certainly not a problem in Victoria.

GRV PRESS RELEASE, From Page 1

“The industry has gone through an unprecedented

period of reform over the past two years and we have

come a long way in that time,” Mr Carolan said.

“The industry will continue to grow and change,

which is why we need a comprehensive picture of

where it is now, so we can plan, meet the needs of the

community and build a sustainable and vibrant future

for greyhound racing in Victoria in the future.

“What comes through strongly in this report is the

extent of the industry’s economic, social and

community impacts on Victorian communities through

job creation and flow-on effects, especially in regional

Victoria,” Mr Carolan said.

Mr Clayton said the report highlights the

contributions of industry participants including trainers,

breeders, owners, contractors and volunteers, in addition

to the economic benefits.

“They are the lifeblood of the industry, the great

majority are passionate about what they do, it’s part

business, part hobby for them and they are

demonstrating that they care about the welfare of their

dogs,” Mr Clayton said.

“GRV clubs play an important social and

community role, providing jobs and supporting

community organisations through donations and

sponsorships, particularly in regional cities and country

towns.”

There are 13 clubs located in Ballarat, Bendigo,

Cranbourne, Geelong, Healesville, Horsham,

Broadmeadows, Sale, Springvale, Shepparton,

Traralgon, Warragul and Warrnambool.

Key findings include:

$298.3 million was generated in direct spending

through greyhound training, breeding, racing and

wagering in Victoria 2015/16

This expenditure created direct value-added

impact (in terms of wages, salaries and profits) of

$137.7 million, increasing the total economic

impact to more than $408.6 million.

Of this, 42 percent of these flow-on effects

directly benefitted regional economies.

Overall, more than 15,000 Victorians are directly

involved in the industry, including employees,

trainers, breeders, owners, and volunteers (which

includes full-time, part-time, casual and contractor

positions).

79 per cent of these participants live in regional

areas.

The economic activity generated by racing is

responsible for directly sustaining 1,216 FTE jobs

in Victoria and a further 1,672 FTE jobs in

support industries.

Further, the report puts the total impact on

employment at 2,888 jobs when flow-on effects

are considered.

BRED TO WIN Our weekly selection of

greyhounds to follow, based on

their breeding and recent

performances.

QUICK FINANCE

Blue dog, September 2015 Fernando Bale x Scusami

Hotel, trained at Junction Village by Russell McRae, for

the Lucky Paws Syndicate.

Had five starts now for two wins and one placings

and looks to have plenty of potential.

Two wins over 460 metres at Warragul (26.36,

26.37) in four starts before stepping up in class for

handy third, from box six over 515 metres at Sandown

(SAP) on 4 June, beaten nine lengths in the race won by

Noaki Colour (30.08) who won by 7.36 lengths.

Always hard to get across from box six there and

that was a good effort.

DAICOS

Black dog, November 2014 Fabregas x Smash The

Clock, trained at Pearcedale by Stephen Kyriacopoulos,

for Jihad Talgi and is showing great promise, just like

the footballer he is obviously named after?

He has now had eight starts for two wins and four

placings, winning over 450 metres at Shepparton

(25.69) and 525 metres at The Meadows (MEP) (30.38).

Last start second over 515 metres at Sandown

(SAP) on 4 June, beaten 0.9 lengths in the race won by

Cindeen Yates (29.92) after starting from box three.

ROCKALOT

Black bitch, March 2015 KC And All* x Abby Shiraz,

raced by the Saquan Racing Syndicate and trained by

syndicate member, Jeff Galea, at Brookfield.

Raced 13 times now for twoi wins and four

placings and is a likely improver, with more experience.

Won over 400 metres at Geelong (22.54) then

sixth there, seventh over 450 metres at Warrnambool

and third over 311 metres at Cranbourne.

Stepped up in class and distance when second,

from box two, over 515 metres at Sandown on 4 June.

Was beaten 1.19 lengths in the race won by

Labuan Starfish (30.11) who had the advantage of box

one. Better luck next time out.

racing them.

THIS week, Rhonda has sent us a photo of one of her

Rhonda is pictured here with Paua Of Terror (March

2014 Barcia Bale x Paua To Terrify).

The photo was taken when he was being trained

by Steven White at Buln Buln East.

He is now in the care of Robert Palmer at

Caldermeade and has not raced since suffering an

injury in December last year.

He is from a 100% winning litter of nine named, which

included Biggie Paws, Girl Power, Gotta Miss Out,

Lucky Seed, Pale Teddy, Paua To Avoid, Paua To

Engage and Paua To Rush.

Their dam, Paua To Terrify, has also produced

good winners from each of her five other litters, by El

Grand Senor, Fabregas, Fear Zafonic, Kinloch Brae*

and Knocka Norris.

On the track, Paua Of Terror has the very good

record of 17 starts for nine wins and five placings.

He has won three times over 400 metres at

Warragul (22.71), where he also won over 460 metres
