1. PRESENTING, REVIEWING AND SPELLING VOCABULARY

-Picture cards -Board -Notebook

1. Show the picture card (Pc).2. Spell the words you want to present or review.3. Ask some ss to write the word related to the picture on the board.4. Have ss copy the words in their notebooks.5. Use the word in a complete structure or context.6. Volunteers say sentences using the words and the structure learnt.

2. SCRAMBLE THE WORD -Picture cards -Cards with letters

1. Form teams of 5.2. Give each team a set of letters.3. Show a picture card.4. Ask ss to form the corresponding word with the letters.5. The team that finishes first writes a sentence on the board using the word and the sample production learnt. If the sentence is correct, the team wins.

3. SWAT THE MEANING-Picture cards-Four fly swatters

1. Form 4 teams of 10 ss and give each team a fly swatter. 2. Paste the picture cards on the board.3. Say the words aloud corresponding to the pc’s one by one and one student from each team swats the meaning.4. The first student who hits the word and says a sentence with it wins a point. 5. The winner is the team who scores more points.

1. Post on the board a wall chart with a list of the pc’s you are planning to use.2. Ask ss to draw a chart with 9 or 12 squares (it’s up to you) 3. Ss have to choose 9 or 12 words from the wall chart.4. Show a picture card and say the name. 5. Ss put a token on the corresponding word.6. The first student that completes the chart is the winner.

1. Divide the group in two teams and also the board.2. Post the pc’s face down on the left side of the board and post the cards with the names face down on the right side.3. Ask a member of each team to go to the board and turn 2 cards. If he gets a pair, then he has to say a sentence. The sentence must be correct in order to keep the pair and win the point. 4. The winner is the team that gets more pair of cards.

7. PASS IT WITH MUSIC-Picture cards-A Cd player

1. Divide the group in 3 teams according to the number of lines. E.g. if you have 6 lines of ss, then 2 lines per each team.2. Give a pc face down to the first student in each team.3. Ask the ss to pass the pc according to the rhythm of the music.4. Stop the song and ask the ss who get the cards to say a sentence. 5. The student who says a correct sentence keeps the card for his team. 5. The winner is the team that gets more cards.

8. SONGS

-A fill-in-the-blank lyrics of a song -Copies of the lyrics for all the ss.-Picture cards showing vocabulary included in the song.

-Music

1. Choose a song that contains the vocabulary of the picture cards.2. Give some ss the picture cards of the missing vocabulary.3. Ask them to listen to the song and show the picture card when they hear the word.4. The ss write the words in the blank.

NB (Nota Bene=Very important)The original ideas were given by teacher Mayela Ríos González (Esc. Sec. Gral 31) and adapted to work with large classes by Keep on. Any list of vocabulary must not be taught isolated. So, the production of the target language is also promoted at the end of each activity.
