It’s wonderful to see our students showcasing their skills. Congratulations to all the students who attended the Balldale Zone Athletics Carnival. Mac MacFarland, Laura O’Shannassy, Angus MacFarland, Teagan Butler and Meg O’Neill have all qualified for the Riverina Regional Athletics Carnival on Friday 31st August. Parking in the Hume Street Designated Bus Zone: Parents are asked to refrain from parking in the Designated Bus Zone on Hume

Street when dropping off or collecting students from school or excursions.

Parental Use of the Car Park has created OH&S issues regarding the safe supervision of school students and their younger siblings.

Parents are asked to use River or Hume Street in order to ensure the safe drop off and pick up of children. Additional signage will be

erected to highlight the safety issues raised.

Road Safety Issues Around Schools Tips to improve children’s safety around our school. School-aged children should always travel in the back seat of your vehicle. Each child / infant must be firmly buckled into an ap-propriate seatbelt or child restraint. NEVER share a seatbelt. Children should always get in and out of the car through the rear kerb side or ‘safety door’. Always drop your children on the school side of the road. Meet your children on the school side of the road, preferable at the school gate. This is particularly important in wet weather. NEVER call to your children from across the road. Teach them to wait until you come to them. Talk with them about what they should do if you are not there on time. Children up to at least eight years old should hold an adult’s hand on the footpath and when crossing the road. Children between eight and at least ten years old should be closely supervised by an adult in the traffic environment and should hold an adults hand when crossing the road. Talk your child through the ‘STOP! LOOK! LISTEN! THINK! ROUTINE EVERY TIME YOU CROSS THE ROAD TOGETHER: STOP! One step back from the kerb. LOOK! For traffic to your right, left and right again. LISTEN! For the sounds of approaching traffic. THINK! Whether it is safe to cross.
