What's Coming up?25 Jun Last Day of Term 213 Jul First Day of Term 3

On Friday K-2 students took part in their own Athletics Carnival. While it was a cold and foggy morning, it didn't deter spirits as students

participated in a range of activities and games. These activities included a bean bag toss, egg and spoon races, a Bluearth game, an obstacle

course and parachute fun! The carnival then finished with running and relay races. All of our infant students should be commended for their

sportsmanship and upholding our school values throughout the entire morning. Thank you to the K-2 staff who organised the carnival and our

student helpers who helped ensure the activities ran smoothly. Thank you also to the parents and guests who braved the cold to come and support

our students!

K-2 INFANTS ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

Holidays are here! It's holiday time! The weather is cold, the skies are dark and the children are at home - what do we do? Now is the time to continue with your routines. Many of our students thrive in the everyday routines. Please keep that up at home over the holidays as it will set them up for success in Term 3. Plus making your bed is one of the best steps towards a successful mindset.

School RepresentativesYesterday we had students represent our school in the Tony Lockett Shield. Thank you to all the parents who drove the children, we really appreciate your support. The players did themselves and the school proud and we cherish your dedication. Over the weekend we also had our Public Speakers represent our school and they all represented our school with dignity and self confidence. Congratulations to Harry Le Lievre who was runner up on the day. A very big effort and the feedback received was very positive.

TheirCareIt is with a heavy heart that I let you know 'TheirCare' (Before and after school care) will no longer be at our school. We know some parents who have been using this service may be left short handed and we apologise for this. As principal I am working with NSW departments to sort the care process and tenders have gone out for a new occupancy in the space. Please contact the school

if you are needing care next term so we can forward numbers on. We need to show that their is a need at Corowa Public School. As always my fingers are crossed.

Construction continuesConstruction is well on the way in C Block and the ramp in K Block. Hopefully it will all be completed mid way through next term. Always a positive view.

Preparing for NAIDOC weekThis week we emersed students in learning about Aboriginal culture in preparation for NAIDOC week and acknowledged the people of the Bpangerang. Working with traditional custodians and the people of our land supports our emerging elders. It is with pride we provide opportunities to understand culture and links with country. This years theme is 'Heal Country' which recognises that country and cultural heritage is the essence of who the people of our nations are.

Enjoy your holidaysBe safe over the holidays, be mindful of safety which includes being aware of others and the places we go. We are still in uncertain times and we can never be certain it won't happen to us. Relax, enjoy and reset for the second half of the year. I will see everyone on my return in August.

SCHOOL SPELLING BEE

Last week we held our school Spelling Bee for all of Stage 2 and 3. All students did a wonderful job and gave it their all. Congratulations to our Stage

2 winners Maeli (Winner) and Matilda (Runner up) and our Stage 3 winners Lachlan (Winner) and Blake

(Runner up) for being our champions with some wonderful spelling on the day. Maeli and Lachlan will

both be off to the Regional Spelling Bee in August. Good Luck!

LION'S CLUB PUBLIC SPEAKING COMPETITION

On Sunday (yes - Sunday) Harrison, Rawson & Matilda competed in the Lion's Club Public Speaking competition at the Lion's Club rooms. They were competing against students from all of the local primary schools. They all did a fantastic job representing our school and all said it was

more nerve-wracking than the competition in Thurgoona because the audience was bigger, they were sitting closer, and they knew a lot of

them! Congratulations to Harrison who was placed second in the Stage 3 competition. Thank you to the students and their parents who gave up a

Sunday afternoon to represent our school.

MATILDA GETS HIGHLY COMMENDEDWell done to our four Public Speakers who attended the Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking in Thurgoona

last week. Competing against students from other schools across the Southern Riverina, they had to give a 3 minute prepared speech on a choice of set topics followed by an impromptu speech on the topic of scary things.

All four of our speakers did an amazing job and congratulations to Matilda who received a Highly Commended certificate on the day. Well Done!
