Question 1What magazine do you prefer to read?

NMEVibeQBillboardRolling Stone

My results from question one show that the most popular magazine was NME and Billboard was the least popular. This result suggest too me that NME being a multi-platform company using print and web based productions as well as NME Radio, NME TV and NME App creates a more unique selling point competing against the various other magazines. Furthermore NME target range is a youth age range consisting between men 17-30 which is also the target audience I am aiming towards.

Question 2What do you expect from a music magazine?

InterviewsFeaturesBackstage CoveragePostersTop 40Festival CoverageExclusive News

My results from question two show that the audience three main aspects they would expect within a magazine would be interviews, features and a top 40. This provides me with the information that the audience is constantly looking for new and exciting information towards the artists and exclusive information that they can share with there friends. Thus my magazine should be up to date, informative and exciting and provide these main aspects.

Question 3What would you expect/prefer to read on a

double page spread?

InterviewsExclusive News PageOne Artist FeatureOver One Artist FeatureOther

Question Three allowed me to see what my target audience look for within a double page spread. Interviews and a one artist features were wanted without any doubt and therefore suggest these are the two main components of a double page spread. Furthermore only a small percentage wanted other components which shows that the double page spread will be targeting a mass audience. Finally this also represents the audience desire for new information such as interviews and to learn about the artists within depth.

Question 4How much would you spend on a music

magazine?

Less than £1.00£1.00 - £2.00£2.00 - £3.00£3.00 - £4.00£5.00 or over

This question allows me to see what most of my target range would roughly spend upon my magazine which nearly half would spend between £2.00 - £3.00 and not many would spend less than £1.00 or £5.00 or over. This provides me with evidence of how much my target range is willing to pay for a music magazine, allowing me to base that they will expect a high quality based magazine for that amount of money through many being on student budgets. Furthermore the price is a massive aspect of the magazine and is important to represent certain content and advertisement inside based on this information.

Question 5What kind of genre of music do you listen to?

RockPopReggaeHip HopHeavy MetalDrum and BassOther

The results from question five allows me to show that the rock genre was the most popular within the people I questioned showing that young adults within my target range are significantly interested within the rock genre. This question clearly established the popularity of this genre of music and therefore the mass target audience gained through providing this genre of music within the magazine. This further back up the point that NME magazine was the most popular

Question 6What would encourage you to buy a music

magazine?

FreebiesCompetitionsMagazine CoverFeaturesBands PopularityExclusive News

My question six results show that the target audience range highest selling point and what would encourage them to buy a magazine more was including freebies and exclusive news. This further connotes the need to keep up to date and that new information and exciting news is essential to pulling in a wider audience. Furthermore the use of freebies also has a unique selling point due to magazine giving away unique items such as posters or cd’s gaining a wider audience interest and swaying them to buy the magazine.
