Farewell Mrs Crocker
PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Please don’t forget our Welcome back to School BBQ tomorrow night where students will get a chance to introduce their families to their class teachers. Many thanks to P & C who has once again organised the catering and preparation. This is yet another example of the wonderful partnership the school shares with this dynamic group of people.
Mrs Hilton has done some magnificent work in organising a visiting author to our school. Phil Kettle is arriving on Thursday and we have workshops organised for Stage 1, 2 and 3.
Phil promotes his latest series of books for children as “Physical Literature” as it features aspirational stories around how we can be like famous cricketers. When asked why he wrote the series he responded
“It puts a smile on the faces of all primary school children – they want to read
and they want to play sport and parents love seeing their children’s enthusiasm
for reading. I find it easy to be passionate about that!”
Other book series we have all loved from Phil include: Boyz Rule, Get Real, Girlz
Rock, I Can Be, Our Australia, TooCool - Series 1, Toocool and Marcy and Toocool
Series 5.
Please ensure that permission notes are returned to school by tomorrow.
Our Kindergarten teachers have commenced the Best Start Assessments for our Kindergartens students. These are 1:1
assessments that take around half an hour per student. The findings from these assessments will shape the personalized
learning your child needs. Families will also, in due time, receive feedback on the assessment results as well as information
around what they can do at home to assist in their child’s learning. Any enquiries around this can be directed to the
Kindergarten teachers, or Mrs Quilliam.
Finally, it is with mixed emotions that this is my final newsletter as Principal of North Wagga PS. I have had a truly
wonderful time leading the school and the beautiful support I have always had from this incredible staff and school
community will be something I hold dear for the rest of my career. The most important people in our lives remain the
children we have the privilege to work with every day. They’re the reason we are all here, and they will be the saddest to
leave.
As you know, the whole team of NWPS is an incredible amazing group of professionals, and I know the school will continue
to raise the roof on educational standards. My sincere thanks to Mrs Trudy Standley who has happily agreed to act as
Principal and to Mrs Virginia Quilliam who will act as Assistant Principal from next Monday. In due time, our school
Director, Mrs Jenene McGrath will oversee the recruitment process for a new substantive principal. I look forward to
fondly watching from a distance, the greatness of North Wagga evolve as it starts a new journey.
Thank you for having me.
Have a great weeK Mandy Crocker
WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL
COLLECTING STUDENT PROCEDURES If you need to take your child out for an appointment or need them to leave early, we require all parents to come to the office first. The office staff will then issue a note through the school attendance system. This note is then given to the classroom teacher. It is requested appointments be made out of school hours, whenever possible. Thankyou. NUT ALLERGY AWARENESS As we have several students who have been diagnosed with an allergy to nuts, we are asking parents not to send any food products containing nuts to school (this includes peanut butter sandwiches). It is important to understand that even trace amounts of food can cause a severe life threatening anaphylactic reaction so we are asking everyone to be aware of how serious this allergy can be. NEW SCHOOL APP We have included information about our new App
provider, Skoolbag. Please download the App and
follow the steps to ensure you don’t miss out on

their first meeting this week and will be presented with their badges at the Week 5 assembly on Tuesday 26th February
(not at this week’s assembly as stated in last week’s newsletter). Sorry if this has caused any inconvenience.
Welcome to Ms Mulrooney!
Ms Mulrooney will be with us on Thursday and Friday
on Pink Class.
PARENT SCHOOL CONTRIBUTIONS The general Parent School Contribution is a voluntary contribution to the school and is set at $49.00 per child for the whole year. We would greatly appreciate if this could be forwarded to the school office during Term 1, if possible, to assist with planning of the school budget. Thank you in advance of a positive response to this request. SUBJECT CONTRIBUTIONS Each year we request payment for “Subject Contributions”. This is a specific request for books used in individual classes and a photocopy levy. The contribution is $35 for each child. It would be greatly appreciated if this payment could be received by the end of Term 1. Thank you in advance. Invoices will be sent out next week.
BOOK CLUB ORDERS Please be remindered: all orders are to be paid online to Scholastic- please do not send your payment or paper order to school. When searching for the school name when ordering, please look for ‘Wagga North’.
