PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Today I was very proud to take our SRC students to K-Mart to purchase

gifts to place under the Wishing Tree. It was beautiful to see our students

enjoy the act of giving. I am sure there will be many families in Wagga

this Christmas who will benefit from this kind gesture.

Last week I accompanied Mrs Frogley, Mrs Baker and the NWPS Eco

Warriors to Kurrajong Recycling and Erin Earth. I love the enthusiasm the

students display towards our environment and the responsibility for

ensuring the message is conveyed to their peers at school. Thank you to

Mrs Frogley for providing this opportunity for the students.

I reminded the students last week at assembly about the increasing

number of dogs on the school grounds during ‘pick ups’ in the afternoon.

Please avoid bringing dogs onto the school grounds, they are not

permitted even if they are on a lead. We have a student with an intense

fear of dogs and we appreciate your understanding with this matter.

There are a number of things on this week that are worth mentioning.

On Wednesday we are having a mufti day and students are asked to bring

in a donation of non-perishable food to place under the Christmas tree, in the office foyer, for the St Vincent de Paul

Christmas Food Appeal. Wednesday evening our Year 6 students will be celebrating their graduation from primary school

with a dinner being held at the Rules Club, commencing at 6pm. Then on Thursday, the staff will be hosting a morning

tea in the NWPS hall at 11:15am, to thank all the people who have helped throughout the year. We look forward to seeing

all of our wonderful volunteers.

We have included information about our new App provider, Skoolbag. Please download the App and follow the steps to

ensure you don’t miss out on any important information over the Christmas holidays.

Presentation Night is next Tuesday 18th December,

commencing at 6pm at the Wagga Wagga High School hall. We

are requesting that everyone is seated before the 6pm start.

Students are to wear full school uniform, including black

shoes. We look forward to seeing all students attend.

Thank you to the Belford family for their donation of quality

books. They didn’t get past the Kindergarten classrooms and

the students are loving them.

Have a fabulous week.

ECO WARRIOR EXCURSION Last Tuesday the Eco Warriors went on an excursion. First we went to Kurrajong

Recycling. There we had a tour outside. We saw tons of aluminium cans

squashed into huge cubes to be sent off to be recycled. They also had big bales

of cardboard and paper and also milk bottles. Make sure you wash out your

containers before you recycle them because it was pretty stinky!

We looked through a huge glass window at the sorting process. A man named

Steve drove a big front end loader and he put all the stuff that people throw

into their recycling bin onto a big conveyor belt to get sorted by the workers. A

lot of stuff wasn’t allowed so a man had to keep tipping it into a chute.

We found out that there is some gold inside computers and it transfers

information faster than other metals.

Then we drove to Erin Earth where we had lunch. If we were quiet enough we

were able to hear a frog croaking. We picked some carrots, tomatoes and

onions. We learnt the recipe for making compost and then we fed the chickens.

Worm wee is really good for growing vegetables! We had a fun day learning

about our environment.

REMINDERS Have you helped us in anyway this year with things like our fete,

working bees, classroom helper, canteen volunteer, scripture teacher,

book covering…and all the other jobs our amazing school community

December at recess time in the hall to enjoy a cuppa and some tasty

treats as a small gesture of thanks for all that you do for us. Please

mark the date in your diary, as we’d love to see you there!
