PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Last week our School Captains Elise and Lachlan wrote to a number of people and organisations around Wagga. One letter was to Mr McCormack our local Federal Member. On Friday morning, his office called to say they had received the letter and that he would be visiting us on Monday to present the school with new flags as requested

and to give out some ANZAC Day Writing Competition certificates! It was certainly a fast response from our Deputy Prime Minister. The formalities of his visit passed very quickly, he then spent twenty minutes answering questions from our students. Some of the questions asked were both insightful and entertaining. This included:

What was it like being the acting Prime Minister over the weekend?

Have you read the Harry Potter books?

Do you have many friends in Canberra?

What do you think of Mr Trump?

What does it take to get into politics?

What are your favourite books to read?

Is it busy being the Deputy Prime Minister?

Mr McCormack was very engaging with our students, happily connecting with them in smaller groups as he left our school. We’re very grateful for our new flags, and appreciated that Elise and Lachlan’s efforts paid off.

At assembly last week we were able to recognise the great work by our Tournament of the Minds (ToM) Team, who all received their certificates.

A huge congratulations to Alicia who received her second Level 4 banner, we’re very proud of her and we’re sure her family is too!

Don’t forget P & C is tomorrow night, commencing at 6.30pm in the staffroom. You can follow all the P & C News over on their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/North-Wagga-Public-School-PC-152824788725781/

A group of our Stage 3 students are currently out attending a special presentation and morning tea with the Oura Sub-Branch of the CWA. Congratulations to the following students for their work with the CWA Poster Competition, this year featuring the country of Poland:

Winner : Greg Ryan Second : Carter Chobdzynski Second: Claire Feary Third: Chase Hopkins Third: Crawford Wadley Highly Commended: India Fewson Highly Commended: Samantha O’Reilly. Have a great week,

PROFESSIONAL LEARNING

Last week our staff had an extended staff meeting where we remained at school to undertake our annual training in CPR

and Anaphylaxis. Two and a half hours of practical assessment followed by a written assessment rounded out our

evening.

To pass the assessments we have to demonstrate our skills on both adult and infant training devices for extended

amounts of times. The written assessment requires a 100% pass park. The training environment is always a little

unusual looking for the uninitiated!

COLES – SPORTS for SCHOOL PROMOTION

Thank you to all our families who supported us with the Sports for Schools Promotion. Mrs Baulch and Mrs Diaz worked

together to order equipment that they thought the school would get the most use from. The front of our newsletter

shows a small sample of what we received, being shown off by our Stage 2 League Tag girls who are off contesting the

next round of their competition today!

2017 FUNRUN: Last chance for names

Thank you to all who have contacted our office to have their names added to the list around missing Fun Run prizes

from last year. Mr Galloway (P&C) is in contact with the CEO of the School FUNRUN and we are anticipating a long-

overdue response. If you are still able to log into their website and provide additional details to us around what you

didn’t receive, as well as the amount of sponsorship money banked, that would be very helpful. Please ensure you have

made contact with our office if you need your names added to the list.

THANK YOU!

This week is SASS Staff Appreciation Week. The SASS staff at our school do a marvellous job supporting us in all

administration areas of the school as well as in our classrooms and school grounds. Our school wouldn’t be the amazing

place it is without them. Many thanks to Mrs Johanson, Mrs Archer, Mrs Tom, Mrs Baker, Mrs Langfield, Mr Mulloy, Mr

Lashbrook and Mr Honeyman for hard work and dedication to our school community.
