“It’s the most wonderful time of the year9.”
These are the words of a very joyous and popular Christmas song. Some parents feel a similar joy at this time of year as students of all ages return to school. For some people who have difficulty finding a break in life, joy is most fleeting. Catholic
Charities helps people in all circumstances find hope which leads to joy. Please help us to bring hope by contributing the following to the donations bin: used clothing, small appliances, shoes, linens, sheets, towels, stuffed animals, novels and children’s books. Thank you.
We appreciate all OLMC parishioners who volunteered on August 11 at The Vincent Methodist Church Care Kitchen. It was a great turnout and we plan on doing it again in October. Details to follow.

Sharing God’s Blessings Annual Appeal
This year’s Appeal, Sharing God’s Blessings, is a perfect opportunity for us to reflect on God’s generosity to us and to share the blessings we have been given with those around us. This year, our parish goal is:
Parish Goal 201Parish Goal 201Parish Goal 201Parish Goal 2018888: : : : $2$2$2$28888,8,8,8,815151515
We are often reminded by our Holy Father Pope Francis and Sacred Scripture that in order to love one another we must share the blessings which God has provided to us.
We are called to similarly share what is granted to us by God and return it to Him so that not one of our brothers and sisters goes without: without the gift of faith; without the essential human needs; and without a personal relationship with Our Lord. We are called to Share God’s Blessings, and when we do, we find freedom and joy in proclaiming the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus, as the Apostles did over 2,000 years ago!
Will you join your brothers and sisters in Sharing God’s Blessings? May God bless you for your generosity!

Bethlehem Handicrafts
From the birthplace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Christian community is seeking your love and support through obtaining their handmade olive wood religious articles. These items will be displayed at the church after all masses the weekend of August 18th and 19th. Your help can, and will, make a difference in the lives of your brothers and sisters in Bethlehem.
Archdiocesan Parish Support Groups
Many who hunger for God’s consolation after the loss of a loved one, separation or divorce or other circumstance will find that faith based programs can offer them hope and comfort. A listing of parish support groups are now available on the Family Life Office webpage. Currently, the Archdiocese of Newark has over 60 different types of support groups ministering to an estimate of 1,200 people each year. The types of groups include: general bereavement, bereaved parents, separated / divorced, single parents and same sex attraction. To find a support group near you, please go to: www.rcan.org/about-parish-based-support-groups-0 and select the group type from the menu on the right. To make updates to our list, please contact Lauren Egan at 973-497-4327 or Lauren.Egan@rcan.org.
Charitable Gift Annuities
Are you interested in giving a substantial gift to the Church? If you answered yes, you might consider a Charitable Gift Annuity (“CGA”) offered by the Archdiocese of Newark. CGAs regularly pay you a fixed amount of money every year for the rest of your life. Payments on our CGAs are guaranteed by The Archdiocese of Newark. When you pass to eternal life, what is left in the annuity is distributed to a catholic charity you specify. If you are interested in this gift opportunity, now might be a good time to act. For more information about making a gift, please contact Theresa Lynch, Planned Giving Manager at (973) 497-4042 or email Theresa.lynch@rcan.org.
Accountability ~ With Heartfelt Thanks
Catholic Charities received a check for $650 as a result of your generosity to the donation bin from December 1st, 2017 to May 31st, 2018. These funds combined with monies from parishes throughout the Archdiocese alleviated the sufferings of the needy who sought relief through the many operations of Catholic Charities. Our counseling services provided 37,306 hours of counseling to 5,407 families in crisis (FY 2017). Thank you for being our partner and enabling us to bring Christ’s love to the most vulnerable in our society.
