Tasks of a career councelor are co-operation with regional youth information and counselling centres (YICCs) and class teachers, supporting subject teachers in the implementation of the cross-curricular theme.

Career information specialist. The aim of the work of a career information specialist is helping to fulfil the targetgroups’ need for information concerning education, labour market and professions.

Career co-ordinator is a specialist whose main activity is planning and coordinatingcareer training in school. A school career co-ordinator may work in general education schools, vocational educational institutions and high schools.

Quality assurance in providing services.During the programme called “Development of Career Services in Estonia 2004-2007” have been composed an important document- “Standard of counselling youth” containing several criteria of providing career services.

Providing career services in vocational schools is a new trend.The reason of it is high level of dropouts, dissatisfaction with jobs and the fact that career services in general educatoin is insufficient.
