INTRODUCTION

• What is Fine blanking• Features

WHAT IS BLANKING

EVOLUTION IN BLANKING PROCESS : FINE BLANKING

DIFFRENCE BETWEEN BLANKING & FINE

BLANKING

• Depending upon clearance between die & punch

• Depending upon the deformation (shearing) of metals

• Depending upon the forces applied

DIFFRENCE BETWEEN BLANKING & FINE

BLANKING

Conventional Blanking 1.Punch

2.Sheet Metal 3.Die

Fine Blanking 1. Punch

2. Work Piece

3. Die 4. V-Ring 5. Ejector

DIFFRENCE BETWEEN BLANKING & FINE

BLANKING

Surface produced by conventional method (top)

Smooth surface produced by FB(bottom)

Surface produced by conventional method (left)

Smooth surface produced by FB(right)

STEPS INVOLVED IN FINE

BLANKING

1. Tool in open condition along with the strip ready to cut

2. Bottom moves up & tools closed. Ring groove (Fr) and counter (Fg) forces are activated

STEPS INVOLVED IN FINE

BLANKING

3. Blanking force (Fs) activated &material being out to produced part. Ring

groove & counter force

still remains active

4. Bottom moves down & tool is in open condition

STEPS INVOLVED IN FINE

BLANKING

5. Ejected force (Fe) activated. Strip & slug ejected

6. Part ejected

PARAMETERS INVOLVED IN FINE BLANKING

1. Forces2. Fine blanking accuracy3. Fine blanked edge quality4. Gear teeth

1. FORCES

2. FINE BLANKING ACCURACY

The accuracy that can be achieved in fine blanked parts is largely dependent upon

1. The accuracy of tools & there quality of maintenance

2. The quality of raw materials 3. The thickness of materials 4. The complexity of component’s shape

3. FINE BLANKED EDGE QUALITY

• One of the great advantages of Fine blanking is its ability to produce a straight, clean edge. The final quality of the edge surface is influenced by many factors, the main ones being:

• Quality of the Tooling

• Quality of the Raw Material

• Type of Raw Material

• Cutting Lubricant

4. GEAR TEETH

• Fine blanking is the only metal stamping process that can produce a gear in single operation.blanking is the only metal

FINE BLANKING PRODUCTION LINE

The fine blanking is the heart of automatic fine blanking production line, which usually consists of the above components

EQUIPMENTS USED

FINE BLANKING PRESSES

ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES

• Compared with conventional stamping

• Compared with machining

APLICATIONS

Vehicles Textile industry Locks & keysOptical instrument

Agricultural instruments Air planes

General Machines

ElectricalsHousehold ComponentsWeaponsOptical instruments

APPLICATIONS

•Blanking is used to produce both internal & external gear forms•This eliminates hobbing & grinding

CONCLUSION

• From the graph we conclude that in conventional process the cost goes on increasing as the quantity is increased. While in fine blanking cost reduces progressively.

• Hence fine blanking process is more useful in mass production industries
