In Maryland, homicide was the leading cause of 

death for girls and women between the ages of 15and 24 in 2008 (30 percent).

Women nearly three times more likely to be stalked

than men, and most are stalked by someone they

know.

In one day alone in Fall 2009, domestic violence

programs were forced to turn away almost 600

victims in DC, Maryland, and Virginia due toinsufficient capacity to serve clients.
