Working for a client and friend who wants to move an existing building 3 miles down a coastal road and then convert it into a family friendly seafood restaurant...on a budget (of course!) and in just a few months, well that can be really fun and really challenging. George’s Restaurant was just that project. Over a 2 month period, I worked closely with the owners to take a solid but neglected shell and transform it into a functional, cheerful and welcoming restaurant. Restaurants are all about efficiency and we worked diligently to accommodate as many seats into the cozy indoor dining area and the spacious new porches as possible. New lighting, paint, flooring and some architectural details gave the shabby interiors just the breath of new life they needed. Commissioned artwork carrying on the restaurant’s frog theme, added a fun and funky pop of color. The screen porch with ceiling fans, nautical pendant lights, space heaters, and rain curtains is comfortable throughout the year, while sunset under the striped umbrellas on the front porch is my favorite spot!
