Greetings!We are so glad you are here and thank you for

your interest in the ministries of Spring Hills Baptist Church. We are looking forward with great expectation to all that God will do through the many ministries noted in this booklet.

It is our hope that you will listen for God’s lead and sense his direction for your life as you browse through this directory. You may be looking for a place to use your gifts in service or a place to grow through the various study opportunities. We have many fellowship opportunities planned for the fall season that will encourage new friendships and make way for a whole lot of fun!

Crisis Ministry Prayer Chain

As Jesus told His followers: ”… whatever You ask in My Name, that I will do, so that the Father is Glorified in the Son” [John 14:13]; We too desire to Glorify the Father through His Son, our Savior – Jesus. Thus, in an effort to both manage the challenge, and maintain vigilance, we have developed a core of individuals who intercede on behalf of critical, crisis and otherwise urgent needs from within and outside of our body. This “Chain of Prayer” can be accessed by contacting our church office or our SHBC website.

Safety & Security Team

The goal of the Safety & Security Team is to show the love of God by sacrificing time and using our talents to provide a safe, peaceful atmosphere for children, members and guests who come to worship, grow and serve here at SHBC.

Welcoming new members and guests into our church is a top priority at Spring Hills. We have seven host teams with responsibility to meet and greet each and every person coming to worship. Host Team members are our “first impression” or our “first reflection” of the light of Christ. ConneXions Café TeamConneXions Café is for those who want to volunteer in the Café during weekend services and special events. Those who may want to learn to make espresso drinks (barista) or simply make coffee and restock baked goods, may contact us to be part of this ministry. Serving in the Café is a great opportunity to meet and greet people with joy and hospitality.

ONE EVANGELISM OUTREACHWorshiping, Growing, Serving Together

Spring Hills “Mission Trip” to Central OhioOctober 24-31, 2013“Eternity: The Ultimate Experience”

Produced by Eternity Production International out of City Bible Church NY-NJ, with acting, lighting, sound, set construction, and altar call counseling/discipleship provided by the Spring Hills Church family. Eternity is a powerful evange-listic production that emphasizes the truth about Heaven and Hell and the unconditional love of Christ.

Tickets will be made available in October to be distributed freely by Spring Hills folks for free admission to the production nights, Oct. 26 - 31, 7:00 p.m.

Auditions for drama parts will be Thursday, Oct. 24, 7:00 p.m. in the worship center at SHBC. Rehearsals are Friday, Oct. 25, 7 - 10 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 26, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (lunch and dinner provided)

Set construction takes place on Friday morning, Oct. 25. Help will be needed from people who are available during the day on that Friday.

Altar call counseling training will be available as a course in the Fall Session of Spring Hills University, taught by Pastor Gary Kirkpatrick (we will need a lot of coun-selors).

Watch for details about special times of prayer for this “mission trip” to be sched-uled in the near future!

Wee Ones - Preschool Nursery

The preschool nursery provides a loving, nuturing, Christ-centered area for children ages birth-kindergarten during the weekend services and various other ministries that SHBC offers. Children will participate in an array of activites: crafts, Wee Worship lessons, praise singing, prayer time and snacks, while learning the love of God.

Volunteer Information: Duties include greeting parents and children when they arrive, helping children acclimate to the classroom, and calming fears. Volunteers will teach, read, play, and give snacks to children, along with helping during Wee Worship by singing songs and helping children to participate with the lesson. Volunteers on occasion may have to help a child use the restroom and change diapers.

Journeyland

Journeyland is a children’s ministry taking place concurrently during the weekend adult worship services for all children incoming grades one - six. Biblical discussion topics rotate each six weeks with interactive teaching in music, drama, Bible teaching, crafts, activities, and geography. It takes place in the SHBC Fireside Room and accompanying classrooms.

Volunteers Needed: We are seeking adults to escort students from room to room, offering teaching, supervision and support. Those interested could come from an array of spiritual gifts and backgrounds, including: teaching, administration, service and encouragement.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRYBirth - 6th Grade

AWANA

The Awana children’s program at Spring Hills Baptist Church is a ministry that seeks to reach boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. Awana’s Vision is to help children and youth throughout the world to know, love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ. The Gospel is presented frequently and accurately.

Volunteer Information: Adult and Junior Leaders [grades 9-12] are needed to assist with memory verse recitation, escorting of students, teaching lessons and games and partnering in reciting prayer. Strengths include helps and service, teaching, administration and a good listening ear! However, most individuals with a willing spirit to love and lead others to Christ prove immeasurably valuable!!

Kids Choir KonneXion

For all kids age 4 (by Sept. 30th) through 6th grade. There are 3 choirs: Preschool (age 4 – K); 1st-3rd Grade; 4th-6th Grade. We learn about worship, praise, music and singing, utilizing scripture, hymns, and choruses. We present a fully-staged musical drama in the spring. C.R.Y. Out to Jesus: Celebrate Recovery Youth is a biblically-based 12-step program dedicated to helping children and teens avoid and overcome hurts, habits, and hang-ups. We do this through a study and application of the Beatitudes, employing large-group teaching and small-group sharing times.

Amplify - Senior High Youth

Each week we engage the students in a challenging message as diverse as the teens we are reaching! We also have awesome worship led by student leaders and geared towards students!

We also need parents willing to donate snack items (popcorn, pretzels) as well as snack-sized candy (Snickers, Twix, etc) for meeting nights.

UTH -Middle School Youth

We feature high-energy games, messages, and activities geared specifically for this age group! We also make small groups a priority in our UTH so that they get to know each other better.

Todah Dance TeamThe Todah Dance Team is a part of the worship ministry which expresses worship to the Lord through choreographed movement. Beginners are welcome, but are strongly encouraged to attend a dance class to increase skill level in order to participate fully in choreographed pieces. Dancers normally meet once a week for 6-8 weeks in the fall and for 6-8 weeks in spring.

Women’s Fall Bible Study

Living Proof Live Simulcast with Beth MooreLifeWay Christian Resources is slated to bring well-known Bible teacher and best-selling author Beth Moore via simulcast on September 14, 2013. Spring Hills is serving as a host location for this area. Living Proof Live, sponsored by Nashville-based publishing company LifeWay Christian Resources, will feature Moore’s dynamic storytelling and passionate Bible teaching. “Beth’s teaching is some of the most profound I’ve ever heard,” Kim Trobee, associate pastor to women at New Life Church in Colorado, said. “Her knowledge of the Word and her passionate delivery never fail to get right to the heart of the matter.”

The event, which is now in its 15th year, both challenges and encourages women to grow deeply in their faith. Join 250,000 women around the world for this live, global, Internet streaming event. The simulcast gives our church a front-row seat to one-of-a-kind Bible teaching and life-changing worship.

Mom2Mom

“Moms on a Mission to better themselves, their families and their world!”

Mom2Mom provides a community of encouragement, fellowship, service and growth for women at all stages of motherhood. We offer a welcoming atmosphere where moms are invited to socialize, form relationships, receive mentoring and experience personal and spiritual growth. There is a social calendar of events each month including Mom’s Night Out, Craft Club, field trips and family events including a Kid’s Christmas Party December 2nd - 10am-12:30pm! WAG is a ministry that brings women together to experience God, stimulate fellowship, communion with God and spiritual growth. WAG has at least two retreats a year with monthly activities such as hiking, camping, biking and shooting.

EDUCATION MINISTRY

Sonshine Preschool

Sonshine Preschool is a weekday preschool program at Spring Hills Baptist Church. It is a ministry to preschool families which provides children with a positive preschool learning experience in a loving, Christ-centered environment. The program addresses the spiritual, academic, emotional, social and physical needs of preschool children. We also have an on-site music teacher. It is our goal to share God’s love as we teach and care for children, encourage parents, and help build up their home. The class times are: 9:00 – 11:30am, with lunch care 9:00 – 12:30; 12:30 – 3:00pm, with lunch care 11:30 – 3:00.

We are currently enrolling students for 2013-2014. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration remains open as long as we have space available. A registration application and registration instructions are available on our website.

Spring Hills Homeschool Group

The Spring Hills Homeschool Group is a ministry of Spring Hills Baptist Church in Granville, Ohio. Our goal is to provide support and connection for families educating some or all of their children at home, regardless of educational style or religious affiliation. The Spring Hills Homeschool Group offers information and resource sharing through the SHHS website, a Yahoo Group and secret Facebook page, event planning support, a mentoring program, and:

EDUCATION MINISTRY

Spring Hills University

You are encouraged to join us in this unique learning and growing adventure we call “Spring Hills University” (SHU). Whether you are a new member of our church, have been a member for many years, or anything in between, there is a course offered at SHU to further the renewing of your mind.

Any adult or high school student may take a SHU course. These courses will be in-depth learning in a casual environment. There are no tuition fees for SHU although some courses may require books.

Look Up Ministries

Their mission is to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of those in our community, and by doing so, share how great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! Their goal is to strengthen both families and communities, and offer values they can uphold while listening to God’s call upon all their lives.

Duties include receiving and returning calls and scheduling pickups, filing and other general office responsibilities. In addition, these volunteers should have a willingness to pray with those who call Look Up Ministries. Volunteers are also needed for facility care assistance. Duties include light maintenance, room set-up, cleaning, program/desk supervising and general building up-keep. Also needed are skilled maintenance on-call workers (i.e. electrician, plumber, painter, etc.) as well as lawn maintenance workers (weed eating, mowing, etc.).

Dinner at the Center

We are offering a FREE weekly meal (already cooked and prepared) to share with individuals and families every Monday night. This home-cooked meal is open to anyone regardless of need. Please bring your family and join us!

BLAST After School Club

BLAST is a FREE, Christ-centered After School Club offering a safe place for children to have fun, get homework assistance and be encouraged. BLAST has arts and crafts and a fun-filled gameroom! A snack is also provided.

All K-5 Graders are welcome!

Volunteer Information: BLAST is in need of volunteers in several areas including food preparation 3-4:30 pm Mon.-Thurs. and leaders to help with different aspects of the program Tues. & Wed. BLAST also needs bus drivers who have CDL Class B licenses and individuals who may be willing to chaperone on the bus one day per week.

Volunteer Information: Look Up Dental Clinic is in need of volunteers who are willing to work one hour, one time per month to minister to and pray with patients as they wait to receive dental care. Dentists and licensed dental assistants are also needed to work one time per quarter or as their schedule allows.

His Hope Ministry

You have a weekly opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those facing difficulties in life. Financial contributions can be put in the drop boxes at each door of the worship center with an indication of “His Hope” gifts. These gifts are used to assist with food, clothing, utilities or medical needs. Also, food and toiletry bags are available to be filled and returned to our His Hope pantry. You will find His Hope bags hanging on wooden displays in the front and back lobbys.
