kind gemaak. Ekkonniemeer nie. Syhet my huwelik opgemors en dwelmsaan haar twee jonger susters aange-bied.
geneem in ’n rehabilitasiesentrum.
reeds drie jaar sonder dwelms.

Rovers have title in mindTHOMAS CAROLUS
Island Rovers will hope to keep theirNorthern Suburbs Football AssociationSuper League title hopes alive when theyface Riverside Rangers at Lavis Park onSaturday. They were unlucky to be knocked out
of the Knock-Out Cup by Blue DownsSpurs last Sunday, but could still lift sil-verware this season in the form of theleague title.Rovers’ surprise defeat at the hands of
Bellstar United last Saturday leave themwith a four point lead, but they have theopportunity to cut that significantly witha home win.It will be no easy task against a River-
side Rangers side who remain unbeatenin the second round after seven gamesand who will have been boosted by their4-0 victory over KalksteenfonteinAFC onSaturday.
“I know Les Mondo and the brand offootball he likes to play,’’ says TonySekuie, spokesman for Island Rovers.“We will have to close them down and
fight for the ball. They have gained confi-dence from their win over Kalksteenfon-tein and for me they are a dangerous op-ponent.”Sekuie added that the fact that his side
are playing at home will be a big boostas well as having potentially two playersback in contention for selection from theEastern Rovers game.Island Rovers beat Eastern Rovers 3-2
on Sunday but lost their goalkeeper witha neck injury.Sekuie knows the difficulty of the task
at hand, and that the visitors will get sig-nificant support from the stands, but be-lieves his team can get the three points.“Maybe we can sneak in a goal but I’m
not going to risk losing the game by giv-ing our plans away,” he said.
Saturday was officially ladies’ day at Killarney racetrack. At first glance it would appear thatWendy Aucamp was jumping for joy in the GTi challenge race. However, after being nudgedoff into turn one, she holds on for dear life as the car skims across the grass verges. Luckily,it all ended well and she went on to finish the race. PHOTO: COLIN BROWN

The battle for under-17 football domi-nance will resume this weekend whenthe 10th annual EngenKnockoutChal-
lenge takes place. People’s Post is the tour-nament’s print media sponsor.Regarded as a proving ground for Cape
Town’smost talented young footballers, thechallenge is hotly contested by 16 of theMother City’s best teams each year. The 10th edition will be no different; fea-
turing the under-17 sides from four differ-ent professional teams, two of South Afri-ca’s best academies and some of the Cape’smost well known amateur clubs. In Group A, Pinelands-based Old Mutual
Academy, Mitchells Plain’s Kenpark Unit-ed, Green Point Salesians and Island Rov-ers will compete for the top two places anda spot in the next round.
FavouritesWith excellent facilities, coaching to
match and a track record littered with thespoils of junior tournaments, Old Mutualare clear-cut favourites to qualify top of thegroup and face the second placed finisherfrom Group B.The restwill have to fight it out for second
place and face the tougher route to the finalwith the winners of Group B waiting in thenext round. Both Kenpark and Island Rov-
ers are capable of sneaking through.InGroupBCape Town’s EngenKnockout
defending champions and five-time victorsAjax Cape Town are expect to brush asideany challenge in the group and finish withthree wins and a healthy goal difference.Vasco daGama should fill the second spot
after breezing through the last qualifica-tion roundwith a 100 % record and an aver-age of three goals per game. Cape Unitedand Kuils River FC will most likely contin-ue on to thePlate section of the tournament.Group C should be the toughest in the
tournament this year. While tournamenthosts and former champions Santos will befavourites to finish first, the race for secondplace is less clear cut.
Form sideOf the three, Grassy Park’s Crusaders is
the side in best form after banging out 10goals in three wins during qualifying. Butdespite less impressive track records, CokeCup senior champions Hanover Park andKraaifontein City could be dark horses.ASD Cape Town Academy, Challenge
champions in 2010, will most likely take thetop spot in Group D with National First Di-vision team Chippa United finishing sec-ond. Atlantic Nacional and Bishop Laviswill scrap to avoid finishing at the bottomof the pile.Tournament kicks off at 17:30 on Friday.
