Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

September 29, 2019

Lazarus was carried to Abraham's bosom. Luke 16:19-31

Dear Parishioners,

October 5th is the feast day of Saint Faustina. The Great Mystic, a member of congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy — Sister Faustina passed away on October 3, 1938, of tuberculosis at the age of 33. Shortly after her

death, the message of Divine Mercy spread across to the people of Poland and to the soldiers fighting during WWII; including American and Philippine troops. The Apostolic Movement of the Divine Mercy continues her mission of proclaiming the message of Mercy to the world through her life.

I am grateful that so many of our parishioners are praying the Novena of the Divine Mercy for the last 9 days – with devotion. I strongly encourage you to study the life of St. Faustina – or download app ‘Faustyna.pl’ or go to the Web site [https://www.faustyna.pl/zmbm/en/] to find out more about her. The Web site is hosted by The Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy, which is available in 8 translations by selecting the language flag at the top of the page.

October is also the Respect for Life Month. We will be celebrating Respect for Life Sunday next week. On Friday, October 4th, we will pray the rosary to end abortion in our country. Please check the bulletin announcements for all of the events during the Respect for Life Month.

NO DAILY MASS: We will not have Daily Mass from October 8th — 11th due to Priest Convocation.

God bless you, Fr. Sylvester

THOUGHTS ON STEWARDSHIP

“My child, remember that you received what was good during your lifetime while Lazarus likewise received what

was bad; but now he is comforted here, whereas you are tormented. Moreover, between us and you

a great chasm is established…” (Luke 16:25-26)

When God created the world He declared that it was good and He gave it to all mankind for us to enjoy. However, over the years we have created a chasm between those who have great gifts and those who do not. In today’s Gospel we see that with our own generosity we must bridge that gap between those who have much and those who have little or we may find ourselves on the wrong side of the chasm in the next life.

This week’s Collection: $6,912.26 Online Giving: $985.00

God bless you abundantly for your generosity!
