A Message from the Principal Team

Dear Families,

After last week’s warmer weather, it is back to our more familiar chilly conditions. I can’t believe that term three is almost over- time certainly is flying by!

In what was an exciting week for Wandong PS, I would like to congratulate our new Principal Kelly Morrow and welcome her to the community. Kelly brings a wealth of experience to our great school and from having met with her- she cannot wait to get started here next term! I’m sure you will all welcome Kelly to the school when she officially begins in term four.

Planning Week: This week our teachers are busy planning for all of our students for term four. Each year level has a full day of planning where they use data to plan an outline of the learning in the key areas of Maths, Reading, Writing and Integrated Inquiry. The planning is led by our highly skilled unit leaders and our Maths and English learning specialists.

MAV Games: Last Friday, we had eight magical mathematicians represent our school at the Mathematical Association of Victoria (MAV) Games Day at Kilmore Primary School. Eight schools were represented with 14 teams taking part. We had two teams entered and they both did a fantastic job with the many problem solving tasks, algorithms and puzzles presented to them. Much fun (and deep thinking) was had on the day and was a real highlight for the students involved.

School Council update: On Monday evening, the September meeting of School Council was held. Key updates include:

School council ratified the School Electronic Funds Management Policy. NAPLAN results were presented to School Council and any questions clarified. Attitudes to School results were tabled and the plan for the further collection of data was explained

to council members. The quote obtained to fix our Grade 3-6 shade sails was presented to school council and accepted. Foundation Camp to Bounce was approved by school council.

Reminder: The last day of term is Friday September 20th and we are finishing at 2.30pm. Please make sure you have made necessary arrangements to cater for the earlier finishing time.

Stay warm David Warren

A Message from the School Captains.

Two weeks to go! Almost there everyone!

We hope you are all enjoying planning week and having a full day of specialist’s.

Yesterday, I (Aurora) competed in the Division Track and Field Championships, with our

Wandong and Mitchell Team mates. It was a great day. I unfortunately did not make the

Division Team but we did have a few Wandong Athletes that did! Congratulations to

everyone that made the team and good luck next term at regionals.

Last night we attended the Bendigo Bank cheque presentation for grants. We were there

with Blake, Nikayla and Miss Pollock. It was amazing to accept a cheque for $5000, that

will help develop our new library.

Tomorrow we have the Young Leaders Day at Kilmore Primary. The last one we had was at

Wandong and it was so much fun meeting and working with the other student leaders at

the different schools. We are really looking forward to being at Kilmore tomorrow.

NETSETGO ACTIVITIES

Wandong Netball Club are running

an activities/skills program

for kids 5-10yrs.

An 8 week program (excluding Monday 4th November)

the program uses fun activities that will aid in

developing netball skills and knowledge.

email [email protected]

Places are limited.

Can you help? Teachers have been busy preparing an exciting Veggie Garden unit

for the Grade 3/4 students for next term. Students will be propagating,

designing and growing a class garden.

We are in need of a small water tank to help get our gardens going and to sustain them throughout the summer. If you or someone you know

might have a small water tank that we could have, please contact Mrs Williamson ([email protected]).

Thank you for your support!

The Kapzikidz are on a mission! Can you help?

We would like help from our school community to collect 5000 plastic lids!

You might be asking why...? We will be donating the lids to Envision Hands to be recycled

and then go on to be made into bespoke aids (like prosthetic hands) with 3D printers.

One way to collect bottle caps is by utilizing the available beverage caps around you. Our families have already started collecting lids, we have an old shoe box that we put

the lids in. If you can wash the lids before donating that would be a great help also.

Please drop your clean, plastic bottle tops in to the Science room, Room 3,

or to the Office in the labelled collection tubs.

Thanks for your help! Together we can make a difference!
