Prior to giving Biblical advice on parenting, I always stipulate that I, too, do not have all the answers nor do everything right. I also state that I rely heavily on the Holy Spirit to lead and guide me, forgiving me when I fall short as a parent. However, I have learned from scripture and observations as a principal some powerful beliefs that guide me and my wife in all that we do as parents. My hope is that sharing these Empowering Godly Parents tips will be useful to you as you parent your children in a Godly way. During the month of January and February you will see two or three Empowering Godly Parents tips added to each Lions Roar. Please note -these tips are not listed in order of importance. * Intentionally insert Jesus into your child’s life. Too often we compartmentalize our faith in Christ to Sunday morning or once a week Bible time. If you want to ensure that your children grow up loving and living for Jesus on their own, you must be intentional in daily showing them how important your faith is to you. Finding teachable Jesus moments are easy if you begin to think this way. When children ask questions, think of how you might insert scripture or Jesus into the answers. * Teach your child that God’s Word is the ultimate authority in their lives. In today’s information age, children, and us included, are bombarded with all kinds of information, good and bad. Some messages that appear “good” or “loving” aren’t always good or loving according to God’s word. God Almighty created us and all that we see in this world therefore He dictates what is good or righteous and what is bad or sinful. * As parents/guardians you are the most influential people in your child’s life. If you want your child to be a loving, humble, gentle, kind person and not prone to gossip or slander, you must first model this behavior. Believe it or not, children look up to you from an early age. They see and hear more than you may ever know or realize. The saying, “The apple does not fall far from the tree,” is often true.

Empowering Godly Parents

As a principal of two Lutheran schools over a nineteen year period of time, I’m often asked for parenting advice from

moms, dads, and guardians. Prior to giving Biblical advice on parenting, I always stipulate that I, too, do not have all the answers nor do everything right. I also state that I rely heavily on the Holy Spirit to lead and guide me, forgiving me

when I fall short as a parent. However, I have learned from scripture and observations as a principal some powerful

beliefs that guide me and my wife in all that we do as parents. My hope is that sharing these Empowering Godly Parents

tips will be useful to you as you parent your children in a Godly way.

During the month of January and February you will see two or three Empowering Godly Parents tips added to each

Lions Roar. Please note -these tips are not listed in order of importance.

* Intentionally insert Jesus into your child’s life. Too often we compartmentalize our faith in Christ to Sunday

morning or once a week Bible time. If you want to ensure that your children grow up loving and living for Jesus

on their own, you must be intentional in daily showing them how important your faith is to you. Finding

teachable Jesus moments are easy if you begin to think this way. When children ask questions, think of how

you might insert scripture or Jesus into the answers.

* Teach your child that God’s Word is the ultimate authority in their lives. In today’s information age,

children, and us included, are bombarded with all kinds of information, good and bad. Some messages that appear “good” or “loving” aren’t always good or loving according to God’s word. God Almighty created us and all that we see in this world therefore He dictates what is good or righteous and what is bad or sinful.

* As parents/guardians you are the most influential people in your child’s life. If you want your child to be a

loving, humble, gentle, kind person and not prone to gossip or slander, you must first model this behavior. Believe it or not, children look up to you from an early age. They see and hear more than you may ever know or

realize. The saying, “The apple does not fall far from the tree,” is often true.
