The work in “Elul” is to clarify and purify our hearts and minds. It is the time to deepen our connection to our shul, the people around us and ourselves. Before we stand before the Creator during the high holidays, we fix the relationships that we have that are broken. This our shul, this is our nation. Let us continue to work on ourselves and the world around us during this special time. This mask requirement will be in place until such time that positivity rates slow. Despite there being no formal local government mask mandate, in order to best protect the health of our members, re-instating a mask requirement is prudent. Those called to the bima for a Torah honor, to open the ark, or to lead Anim Zemirot are to remain masked. As for Kiddush, pre-packaged foods will be provided and served outside in the Sukkah. If you have had surgery within the last three months, have a compromised immune system or have been potentially exposed to the Covid-19 virus, we ask that you follow current health officials’ recommendations and refrain from attending services. Dear Beth Israel Family,
