We hear about cancer all the time, but often the terms used to describe treatment seem a bit intimidating. Today we will examine a few of these terms and will find that several main treatment options use the same basic mechanisms that we have already learned.

Each of the therapies you just researched operatesusing a basic mechanism which we have discussed in class. Chemotherapy utilizes diffusion, while radiation therapy damages the cancer cell byintroducing mutations in its DNA. Create a labeleddiagram of one of these two mechanisms. You can draw your diagram by hand, or you can do it onthe computer. You will turn this in with yourresearch.

Cancer is one of the mostcommon sicknesses in the worldtoday.. If it has not affected youpersonally, there is a very goodchance it has affected someoneyou know. Now you will write ajournal entry describing what lifemight be like for a person goingthrough cancer therapy. If you have experienced this yourself,share what it was like for you.
