Why haven’t you given God a chance? You are stuck. In mediocrity. In neutral. In boredom. In fear. In worry. In confusion. In anger. In discontentment. In failure. In pain. In sin. So let me ask again, Why haven’t you given God a chance? There’s an interesting story in 2 Kings 7:3-9 about doing just that. Let me set the scene for you: a famine has struck the city. Outside the city an enemy army is camped. In the middle, stuck at the city gate, are 4 lepers in hiding. They are starving and need food. They survey their options and find that they don’t have any. They are stuck between a famine and an enemy. So what did they do? They gave God a chance. The 4 men said to one another, “If we sit here, we die.” One thing they knew, doing nothing was no longer an option. They decided to surrender to the enemy and take their chances with God. And when they walked into the Aramean camp, they discovered that God had already driven out the soldiers! Our summer ministry theme for 2013 will be Breaking Ground. I am hoping that many people will begin breaking spiritual ground in their lives. On Sunday mornings we will challenge people to take the necessary steps to grow in your walk with God, to grow in your trust, and to grow in your ministry to others. See you this summer!

June 2 - Youth Fundraiser: Come on out and support our YOUTH at their annual Spaghetti Dinner & Cake Auction to raise money to send 25 students to Camp. We’re trying to raise $270, per student, so if you can help with scholarships that would be greatly appreciated. The lunch meal is by donation and our Famous Delicious Cakes will go to the highest bidder! Discipleship Classes: You will not want to miss signing up for our Wednesday Night Classes this summer. Look for sign-up sheets in The HUB. The classes will focus on growing our relationship with Christ and will run anywhere from 6-8 weeks, beginning June 19. Connection Classes: If you aren’t plugged into a class on Sunday mornings @ 9am, then you are missing a great time of fellowship and Bible study. This is a way to connect with your Northside family on a deeper level. A time you can meet the “Church”! It allows us to keep in touch with everyone as we continue to grow. So, get involved, try it out, and find your place on Sundays @ 9am.
Rick Braun, Outreach Minister
Spreading the Joy of Jesus in June Missions
The six of us that journeyed to Laguna Beach Christian Retreat on May 18 to cook breakfast for the ladies from Bethel Village had a great time! While it was a bit early for a Saturday morning, the lost sleep was well worth the benefit of helping others. Bacon, eggs, pancakes and biscuits were greatly appreciated by all in attendance. The ice cream event that evening was well received, including the Northside group that went to help. The ribs that Hiland Park Baptist provided for dinner were pretty tasty, too!
We have even more places to go and people to serve in June. Upcoming events that we would love to have you join us on include:
June 6 & July 4: (first Thursday of each month): Serve dinner at the PC Rescue Mission from 4-6:00pm. Give it a try and make new friends!
June 1: Baptist Center Block Party prep. Pass out flyers in neighborhood. No stress, just pass out invitations to the Block Party. People are glad to hear about free food and fun! Let Ms. Patti Brown know if you’re interested in
either the prep or the actual event on the 8th by calling 763-8892. June 8: Baptist Center Block Party from 10am to 1pm. Lend a hand and help
make it an eternal success! Mid-July: (date not set yet) ping pong tournament, movie, burgers, and popcorn
at the Annex. This will be a huge fundraiser for Acts 1:8 and we need you to help us get some ministry projects funded!
October 12-19: Oaxaca, Mexico mission trip. We still have a few spots available so if you want to go, speak up quickly!
Another project we are going to tackle in the near future will be collecting items for the Pregnancy Resource Center. They need donations (new items only) of baby bath soap, baby lotion, baby shampoo, baby powder, baby wipes, pacifiers, baby bottles, receiving blankets, washcloths, hooded towels, socks, and newborn outfits. Happen to see any of this on sale? Grab it and bless someone when we collect it at the end of June. We’ll have donation boxes in The Hub.
Get off the sidelines and jump on in! So many levels to get involved at, that you can choose what you’d like to try, from several events. And, as always, don’t hesitate to contact me with potential projects, ideas, questions or concerns at [email protected] or give me a call at 819-9106. We need your input to reach those outside of Northside with our very best efforts.
