• The idea of this model is that as babies we first focus on controlling our bodies.

• Then our linguistic and conceptual skills develop (“IQ”)...and are a key focus of our school work. We do some early development of relationship skills, but for many of us

• “EQ” or emotional intelligence becomes a focus area only later when we realize we need to improve – usually based on feedback in romantic and work relationships.

• “SQ” or spiritual intelligence typically becomes a focus later – as we begin to search for meaning and ask “is this all there is?”

• Romans 12:1-2 (NKJV)

• 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God

• His model of EQ consists of five interrelated traits. These five traits are hierarchal.

• They build on one another. EQ begins with three intrapersonal traits: Self-awareness, Self-regulation, and motivation. Resting on those three are two interpersonal traits: empathy and social skills.

• For the Christian, the presence and power of the Holy Spirit however, is a great encouragement to the development of wisdom, high EQ, or what the Scripture often calls maturity. Pursuing higher levels of emotional intelligence is part and parcel of working out your own salvation.

• My definition is that “Spirituality is the innate human need to connect with something larger than ourselves.

• I define Spiritual Intelligence as “the ability to behave with Compassion and Wisdom while maintaining inner and outer peace (equanimity) regardless of the circumstances.”

• Firsts every religion today promises heaven from Islam and the virgins for terrorists, to Hindu Gods who won't kill cows, to Buddhism and even a type of Christianity: it's all about heaven.

• The Bible shows that the Kingdom of God will be set up on the earth

• Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!"

• Three times in the book of Revelation, the apostle John describes the "holy city," New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven, rather than being in heaven (Revelation 3:12; 21:2, 10).

• New Jerusalem will be set up on the new - cleansed and purified - earth. God Himself will dwell with men - not in heaven but in New Jerusalem on earth:

• And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people.

• God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. ... He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son." (Revelation 21:1-4, 7)

• Nevertheless, the biblical record is plain: God's Kingdom will be established on the earth He created, and it will be an everlasting Kingdom.

• (For more examples of the Kingdom being established on earth, see Psalm 2:6-8; 47:1-9; Jeremiah 23:5; Ezekiel 37:21-28; Daniel 2:44-45; 7:17-18, 27; Micah 4:1-5; Zechariah 9:9-10; 14:9, 16-17; Revelation 2:

• 14 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

• Stir up the Gift, (what gift?)

• Why? We don't have a spirit of fear that stops the whole world But of Power, or ability , Of Love, of a Sound Mind. This gift provides all that access, and it's spiritual?

• 2 Timothy 1:6

• For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

• 1:7 The Spirit of Fear, DELIVERANCE.

• The spirit of fear may find a place by reason of one’s natural temperament, but it is not merely a human disposition; it is not from God; and it can immobilize and torment its victims, making them feel powerless and alone (1 John 4:18).

• Indecision or wrong decisions are then made that could give place to bondage and great human suffering. In the face of fear, we are to remember our calling from God (2 Tim. 1:6).

K I N G D O M D Y N A M I C S

• We have within us: 1) the power of God, through the Holy Spirit, enabling us to no longer be victims (v. 7); 2) the perfect love of God, poured into our lives through Jesus Christ and His abiding presence (Rom. 5:5); 3) the mind of Christ by which we can apply the ways of God in making “sound” choices (2 Tim. 1:7).

• Applying this truth determines whether we overcome fear or are overcome by it (see 1 John 5:4). (2 Cor. 10:4–6/James 4:7) C.H.

• 1:7 sound mind, sophronismos (so-fron-is-moss); Strong’s #4995: A combination of sos, “safe,” and phren, “the mind”; hence, safe-thinking.

• The word denotes good judgment, disciplined thought patterns, and the ability to understand and make right decisions. It includes the qualities of self-control and self-discipline.

• 2 Timothy 1:7 says “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

• A sound mind means common sense. In decision-making use your initiative, do the research, find out the facts and the options, and then move forward because it’s easier to steer a moving vehicle than a stationary one!
