South Wagga Public School Term 1, Issue 6 Friday 6 March 2020 Bulletin Achieve with Pride Respectful~Responsible~Connected A message from our Principal Worlds Greatest Shave It is happening next week! Aſter over 3 years of growing his hair, Rex is shaving his head. The event will happen on Friday 13 March under the COLA, first thing in the morning. Rex will also be donang his hair to Variety to make a wig. Please consider sponsoring him. Clean Up Australia Schools Day Schools Clean Up Day was a great way for South Wagga students to learn about the impact of rubbish on their local environment while playing an acve role in their community. Students and teachers worked together to clean up an area which is special to us. Between lunch and recess Kindergarten did a fantasc job cleaning up our school playground by picking up all of those small pieces of rubbish which hide in our grass and gardens. The other students helped to make Wagga Wagga sparkle as Stage 1 went with Stage 3 to Bolton Park and Stage 2 made the streets behind the school prisne. Tell Them From Me Surveys Students in Years 4-6 are invited to parcipate in surveys that will be conducted this term and Term 3. Clean Up Australia Schools Day

Schools Clean Up Day was a great way for South Wagga students to learn about the impact of rubbish on their local environment while playing an active role in their community Students and teachers worked together to clean up an area which is special to us Between lunch and recess Kindergarten did a fantastic job cleaning up our school playground by picking up all of those small pieces of rubbish which hide in our grass and gardens The other students helped to make Wagga Wagga sparkle as Stage 1 went with Stage 3 to Bolton Park and Stage 2 made the streets behind the school pristine

PSSA Knockout Cricket - Girls

Last Tuesday 3 March South Wagga Girls Cricket team

played Junee North at Bolton Park The girls opened their

batting with some impressive running between the

wickets and four big 4s by Milla Pavitt before Junee were

able to take their first wicket Lauren Treharne snuck in

two extra fours and Olivia Delaney held her wicket well

before being retired We were able to make 145 runs by

the 25 over

Milla and Talea opened our bowling with excellent figures

of 310 and 15 Abbey decided to give bowling ago after

12 good overs of keeping and took 22 Both Lauren and

Abbey took a wicket each with run outs and Olivia

Delaney showed how handy she was in the field stopping

many potential fours

Ms Shaw was impressed with the girlsrsquo enthusiasm

sportsmanship and encouragement of each other We will

now go more confidently into round 2 Well played girls

and congratulations to our two young recruits Imogen

and Ayet who played very well for their first time

WWPSSA Swimming Carnival

On Monday 2 March approximately 35 SWPS students went down to the OASIS to compete in the annual WWPSSA

swimming carnival All our participants swam their best with many amazing performances I was privileged to

watch the races and was so proud of everyones efforts Congratulations to all the competitors with South Wagga

taking out the championship

Special mention to Andre Labara and Hamish Inglis who were both awarded age champions

A massive well done to Andre for his EXCELLENT achievement in breaking these records

bull 50 Freestyle 50 Butterfly 50 Backstroke 50 Breaststroke 200 Individual Medley (by 23 seconds)

A large group of these swimmers will now travel to Albury to compete in the Riverina PSSA carnival on Wednesday

11 March including all of our 4 relay teams

Parent FAQ document for the student survey for years 4-6

We are delighted that this term and term 3 our school like many other public schools in the state will participate in a

Department of Education initiative the Tell Them From Me student feedback survey The survey measures factors that are

known to affect academic achievement and other student outcomes The focus of the NSW-wide survey is on student

wellbeing engagement and effective teaching practices

The survey is a great opportunity for our students to provide us with valuable and quick feedback on what they think about

school life how engaged they are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them Schools in Australia and

around the world have used the Tell Them From Me survey to help improve how they do things at school

I want to assure you that the survey is confidential The survey is conducted online and will typically take less than 30 minutes

to complete Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary A consent form and FAQs for parentscarers about the survey is

being sent home with students today If you do not want your child or children to participate please return the form to school

The Echidnas have been enjoying their study of The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr Morris Lessmore this year This picture book

is a lovely reminder of the importance of including books in our lives and how enriching their content can be We have enjoyed

this book so much that we recreaded one of the beautiful images during art

We are so excited about new students joining our school band If

you are in Years 3 ndash 6 and are interested in joining the band
