In general (simple subjects)• Obvious stuff:• Crisp, dark foreground• Bright background (duh)

• Aperture priority—largest aperture you have• Fast shutter speed (1/250, depending on your

light)• No flash• Higher ISO, if you can (optional)

• If you want a black silhouette, meter strictly for the background.

• Want a little detail on the front, meter for the background and play with exposure comp or change the angle of your lighting

• If the subject isn’t all on a close plane or you want to shoot yourself, use a higher F-stop and higher ISO
