Michelle Pressel and Soleil: Soleil earned her first obedience title at the

German shepherd club of San Luis Bay Sept 9/10. She qualified Saturday

with a 99 for second place, 1 second behind 1st place. And finished the

title Rally Novice on Sunday with a perfect score (100) and first place.

On a Loose Leash A note from the President

Autumn is here….and we get to sit for a minute, rest up and then get ready for more of MBDTC’s invigorating activities.

Let me begin with a big BarkOut for the participants in our first ever Tractor Parade at the 2017 Fair!

Thank you!! terri, garth, linda l, barbara, marlene, carol, bruce, michelle, chris, craig, joyce, denise w, stewart, trish, pam f-h, rod, kami, shellie, ed, frank d, and michelle’s mom mrs pressel. Special thanks to kami for stepping in as caller on Saturday and to rod and kami for bringing kloe’s cart!

From all indications the 2017 Fair parade went off very well and we had face to face opportunities to meet a TON of people and to give them our business cards. Our participants and their dogs handled the new venue just like the pros that they are. We will have some administrative fine tuning to do before next year…but it was a grand start. Thanks to all!

More new news…..AKC has approved our St Francis event date to move to Saturday, July 28th 2018. Upon review, the board

believes that Saturday is a better day for a stand alone trial. Keep your eyes peeled on RUFF NOTES as more details develop. Thinking of a favorite local judge that we might invite? Contact Michael with your suggestion. Time is limited. Act soon. If you can get to Michael by Sept 31st we can complete our “wish list” and hope that the judges aren’t already booked up.

And more new news….We are not holding dog training classes at Pet Pals at this time. Pam Strametz has made arrangements

with Pet Pals to train the Wednesday morning classes as an Independent trainer under what appears to be the name I Train Spot. The Director of Training was notified of her resignation and Independent trainer status late night on Tues before the last Wed AM ( 8th) class of our session. Fliers advertising the I Train Spot classes were available to the students using MB's Sept corresponding date. Our fliers were not distributed by our members assisting at the classes.

Membership update: We welcome Meg McRoberts as our newest member. She and her newest Lhasa Apso pup, Gimel, are

training in Capitola. Many of you will remember her last Lhasa, Dreidel. He and Meg have been our long time greeters at the opening nights of Cap classes. Now that Dreidel is gone, Gimel is filling the void as chief greeter dog.

Marlene has some speakers lined up with interesting subjects for our November and January Meetings. More information will

be found in RUFF NOTES. …..
