Message from the Director Standing with water over my shoe tops theman said, " I think I found the root of yourproblem." The plumber pulled a snake-likedevice from the swirling water. On the end of itwas a crumpled potato chip bag. In the distance Ihear beautiful voices singing "Tomorrow!Tomorrow! I Love Ya Tomorrow, You’re Only ADay Away!” That was the cast of the 2000 RLTproduction of Annie singing, and that was me inthe gallery bathrooms of the DeSoto as HouseManager on opening night and I'm thinking, " I'vegot to audition for the next production." Was itthe gurgling of the water or the ringing of thevoices? I like to think it was the latter. Either way,a director was born that night! Tonight I havecome full circle. I would like to thank all of you who have helpedme on my journey - from the helping hands to thekind and encouraging words. None of them wentunnoticed. RLT is a place we all call home andits actors our friends and family. Tonight's production is about hope in a worldfilled with doubt, optimism in the face of anightmare, a heroine that is all that we wish wecould be, and above all, love. As you watch ourshow tonight it is my wish and prayer this holidayseason that, just like Annie, you find your voice, start your journey and share your love!

Karen Mason Bowling

Message from the Producer I began my journey into the world of theatrebecause of my children. I have stayed on thispath because it is magical. I have thesemoments when I am standing in the wingswatching the show unfold on the stage that I amsuddenly aware of why I produce and stagemanage. I love watching people take their placein the spotlight and knowing that I helped makethat possible. So to the cast and crew, break aleg. To you the audience, I hope you enjoy thisproduction of Annie.

This past year, the Historic DeSoto Theatre Foundation was created to help securefunding to restore the DeSoto Theatre to its former splendor. With assistance from the FoxTheatre Institute, the tireless work of many volunteers and generous donations from ourmembers and friends, the rehabilitation process has begun with the repair of the ornateplasterwork in the vestibule and the complete remodeling of the upstairs meeting rooms.Although much has been done, many more restoration projects are needed.
