Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Cover

Cover• In my preliminary task I have been making the mistake of not taking

professional photos but instead of that I have used by phone which doesn’t make as good as an actual camera which I have used to create the cover for my final piece. Also in my preliminary task I have added too many extras on the page which made it look very fake unlike an actual magazine. Also the colours were standing out a lot and I have used different colours not keeping a house style the same which made it look really bad. Another mistake that I have made working on my preliminary task that helped me to create a better final piece is that I have used different fonts and colours as well as different sizes of letters I have improved that for my final piece. Overall I think that my final piece looks much more professional and my skills have improved greatly since producing my preliminary task cover.

Contents page

Contents page• Now looking at my contents page I think I have improved greatly in this

area as the contents page I have created for my preliminary task wasn’t good. It just like the main page was lacking a specific house style and scheme of colours to create a sense of familiarity and professionalism. Some of the writing on my context page is hard to read and the overall contents page for preliminary task has too many things at the same time making it look bad. In my final piece I have improved that creating a simple contents page which looks good has a specific house style that is being kept throughout the entire page. Overall I think that my contents page for my final piece has improved greatly since creating my preliminary task contents page it looks much more professional.

Double page spread • I have not created a double page spread for my preliminary task therefore

I can’t tell how much I have improved since then but I have studied and analysed many articles from magazines of the same genre as my one and have gain an idea of how one should look like. Creating this double page spread has helped me to improve my writing and editing skills as I have learned through trial and error method the final piece looks much more professional than the ones created previously.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full

product?• Overall I have learned how to create professional and well looking

and structured magazines starting from the cover all the way to the double page spread. I have also learned how to manipulate colours and text so that it all fits together have learned how to make pictures and how to use camera angles and manipulate with pictures using professional software such as Photoshop. I have also learned a lot about other magazines that are the same genre as the one I have created I know how they work the structure and more technical approach to creating them. I have also gained the ability to tell who is the target audience for magazine and how to tell the difference. I have improved greatly since creating my first magazine I know how to address my audience and create something that will drag their attention into my magazine.
