WEEKLY UPDATES Happy Friday Everyone! As the world watches the 2012 Summer Olympics, we are reminded to reach for Gold in every area in our lives and never give up on achieving our dreams. Here are PYL’s weekly updates, as we reach for GOLD: SUBBRANCH PROGRESS: July 30th the National Executive Board travelled to the East for PYL Yamacraw Elections. PYL would like to thank all of the outgoing officers of Yamacraw for their hard work and dedication to PYL during their tenure. We thank you so much and congratulate the new executive officers led by newly elected Chairman Ms. Camille Cooper Please note the following subbranches are also up for elections/establishment: Elizabeth, Southern Shores, Grand Bahama, Carmichael, Engerlston, San Salvador, Bain & Grants Town. If you or someone you know, are interested in becoming a member or an executive of a sub branch, please contact the subbranch committee at [email protected] PROGRESSIVE SPOTLIGHT: Progressive Young Liberals all around the nation are cheering on the talented and driven Bahamian athletes competing at the 2012 Summer Olympics. You all are making us very proud. Continue to represent the Bahamas well! Birthday Wishes to all those who celebrated their birthday this week. A special Happy Birthday to PYL’s very own National Executive Officer and Former PYL Chairman Mr. Omar Armbrister. May God bless you all to see many more. PYL’S NATIONWIDE BOOK DRIVE: PYL is dedicated to supporting the initiatives of the PLP Government as it relates to the improvement of the national literacy rate and quality of education. On August 1 st PYL launched its nationwide book drive and will be collecting books until August 25 th that are in good condition at all constituency offices nationwide, at the Sir Lynden Pindling Center (New Providence) and PLP House (Grand Bahama). These books will then be distributed throughout the Urban Renewal Centers as we launch our ‘Each One Teach One’ Tutoring Session Program. Stay tuned for more information & thank you in advance for your book contributions.

UPCOMING  EVENTS:    

PLP  STEAK  OUT:           On  August  6th  meet  us  at  Western  Esplanade  from  12PM-­‐6PM  for  the  PLP’s  Steak  Out.  Tickets  are  only  $10  for  Steak  or  Chicken.  Conch  fritters  and  other  native  treats  will  be  on  sale  too!  See  you  there!  PYL  has  tickets  and  you  can  e-­‐mail  us  via  [email protected]  for  more  information.        NGM  (National  General  Meeting):          The  next  general  meeting  is  scheduled  for  August  26th  ,  2012  under  the  theme,  “Gambling:  The  Youth’s  Perspective”  at  the  Sir.  Lynden  O.  Pindling  Center  at  4pm.    There  will  be  guest  speakers,  prizes  and  a  mock  referendum  will  take  place.  We  welcome  all  young  Bahamians  ages  13-­‐35  to  learn  more  about  the  organization  and  to  meet  the  new  executive  board.  Light  refreshments  will  be  served.
