HORACE MANN AND LEET CENTER WEEKLY UPDATES: PAC PARADE INFORMATION We are planning to walk in the Northwest Homecoming Parade at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 29. It’s not too late to join us! We don’t know our exact line-up spot yet but will pass that along as soon as we find out. Here’s a little more specific information: *We are excited for your student(s) to walk and are asking that a parent walk with each student also. Other siblings/family members are welcome to walk with us as well. *As an incentive for participating, the Horace Mann/Leet Center class with the highest class percentage participating in the parade will receive 100 bonus Box Tops for their class count in the Box Top competition. *We will not be decorating a float after all and so we will only be a walking entry. However, please feel free to use a stroller or wagon for your child(ren)… and even decorate it if you feel creative. *Please have your Horace Mann/Leet Center student(s) wear their new T-shirt provided by PAC (We’re planning on having those to you by 10/27). For all other walkers, we’d ask that you wear some sort of Bearcat gear. *We will be handing out candy so if you’d like to donate candy please drop off your donations to LaTessa by Wednesday, 10/26. Below is a list of people who are planning to walk in the parade. Please email me [email protected] back if you are able to come and have fun with us, and so we know how many to plan for. • JUMP ROPE FOR HEART: Horace Mann will be having their annual Jump Rope for Heart event on Friday Nov. 4th in Lamkin gym. Here are the collection packets and any money collected can be turned into the school secretary but the final collection day will be Friday Nov. 4th. The students will be doing a variety of fun jumping stations including double dutch and tininckling.

o As always I ask the kids to make sure their parents are supervising them while they fundraise for the American Heart Association but they also know that if they can’t fundraise this year that is ok every child will get to participate in the event and all children will receive a token of appreciation from me and the American Heart association for participating in the jumping activities.

o Also I have a Red T-shirt (logo attached) from the American Heart Association that anyone can buy for $10 and for each T-shirt sold Horace Mann will get credit coupons to buy equipment for our school. If you would like a T-shirt you may send the money in an envelope with your child and list the size/s you would like and I will order them for you. Youth small thru Large and Adult small thru 3 XL are available.

o Last year Horace Mann Elementary raised over $3,000.00. It was tremendous and it was a blessing to our Physical Education Department as well because we received over $300.00 in sporting equipment gift certificates from the American Heart Association. Over the past few years this money has helped us get a lot of needed equipment and this money also paid for the climbing wall. We hope to break our record again this year and I thank you parents for all of your support. If you have any questions please call me at 816-262-3459.
