KONDININ KRUZERS PRESENTS KONDININ BURNOUTS SATURDAY 7th APRIL 2018
After a long break in burnouts in town, Kondinin Kruzers ran their inaugural event on Saturday 7" April 2018. With entrants coming from Merredin, Perth, Denmark and all places in between, they enjoyed hours of open pad time, then 2 qualifying rounds plus night finals. With the small but dedicated committee reaching their aim of over 15 entrants & 100 spectators for the day, everyone came away satisfied. Many thanks to our sponsors, volunteers & the P &C for catering. Our aim was to provide a fundraiser for the Kondinin School & to lock Kondinin’s name back into the burnout calendar. We aim to supply the best camping outside of Perth, quality trophies and a well run competition.

Area Early May
Please be advised that the Department of Biodiversity, Con-servation and Attractions will be conducting burn offs this Autumn adjacent to the Hyden Light Industrial Area. Neighbouring properties to DBCA land will receive notification shortly. We ask that you act and drive safely around these areas and contact your local Bushfire Control Officer if you have any concerns during this period. Shire of Kondinin on behalf of DBCA.
COMMUNITY GARDEN UPDATE
Thank you to the Kondinin Bowling Club and Robert and Glenn Browning who donated and delivered the bowling shelters from the club to
the Kondinin Community Garden. The Shire installed them this week, one over the kitchen
in the nature play area to provide shade for children playing and the other in the garden for a place to sit when visiting the garden.
Thank you to Mark Burgess & his team.
KONDININ COMMUNITY RECREATION CENTRE UPDATE
After several years of planning and securing funding the Kondinin Shire Council have now engaged A Corp
Construction to complete the extensions to the Kondinin Community Recreation Centre. Work will com-
mence on the building on the 16th April 2018 and is scheduled to be completed by February 2019. The scope
of the extension comprises the enlarging the multi-purpose room area, the expansion of the kitchen, upgrades
and enlarging of the ladies toilets including three new showers, upgrades to the male toilets, a universal access
toilet, a new front entrance, a new roof and new canopies on the northern and southern elevations.
Funding for this project has been provided by the Shire of Kondinin, the Kondinin Community Recreation
Council, the Wheatbelt Development Commission and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural
Industries.
During the nine month period of construction the Kondinin Community Recreation Centre will not be accessible
to the public. However all playing surfaces within the Kondinin Sports Precinct will remain operational through-
out this coming 2018 winter season and 2018/2019 summer sporting season. Individual sporting clubs are re-
sponsible for ensuring that suitable arrangements for access to toilets, afternoon tea and post-match activities are
in place through liaison with the Kondinin Community Recreation Council where required.
For any queries relating to bookings of the Pavilion and the Kondinin Community Recreation Centre or general
sporting club operational matters during this construction period, please contact the Secretary of the Kondinin
Community Recreation Council, Jen Henderer on [email protected] or 0427 505 016.
For any queries on the construction works being undertaken at the Kondinin Community Recreation Centre
please contact Tory Young at the Shire on 9889 1006 or [email protected]
Thank you for your consideration in this matter, and we hope that by early 2019 we have a fabulous upgraded
facility that our community and broader district can enjoy.
PLANTS AVAILABLE TO COLLECT
FROM KONDININ COMMUNITY RECREATION CENTRE
As part of the upgrades to the Kondinin Community Recreation Centre the garden on the eastern
elevation of the building is required to be removed. The Shire’s gardeners are currently removing
the plants with some to be transplanted to other gardens in town. Not all the plants will be required,
so Steve and Sacha will leave a pile of plants at the front of the Kondinin Community Recreation
Centre for any community members to collect by this afternoon. First in best dressed!
