How is it supposed to “circle” if your customers are not sending anything back?

How do I know what they are sending back?

What if the customer orders more then he sends back old parts?

Reverse Logistics

How do I get my customer to send back the resources I need?

Do I have an identificationprocess and is it ERP compatible?

How do I manage to always have enough stock?

Defining Reverse Logistics

▶ The process of planning, implementing, and controlling the efficient, cost effective flow of goods (raw materials, in-process inventory, finished goods) and related information from the point of consumption to the point of origin for the purpose of recapturing value or proper disposal.

Generic definition according to RLA

Special requirements for the product cycle:

System (esp. controlling) for highest return in line with sales:

▶ Setting & controlling incentives for returns

▶ Identifying & evaluating returned goods

▶ Generate necessary data(Who, what, when, where)

“Options Model”

The Option Model

Raw Material Cycle:

Product Cycle:With the purchase of a circular product the customer becomes eligible to return an old part of the same kind as resource. This created option holds a financial obligation to both seller and customer. The purpose is to ensure the return of necessary parts as well as financing new infill.

An example…

Without RL-Management

▶ Unsteady, low return rate (< 60%)

▶ High costs for new infill

▶ No financial compensation for infill due to ability to return non-valuable cores for high financial compensation

▶ Unstructured logistics with low frequencies and long distances

▶ No information clarity internally and externally

With RL-Management

▶ Continuous return rate of >90%

▶ Very low new infill

▶ Structured return process with clear understanding of what, how and when can be returned with correct financials

▶ High circle frequency with ability for small quantities and short distances

▶ Transparent reporting internally and externally

▶ Quick reimbursement
