WebTrends – Definitions
• Visitors –– A visit is a series of actions that begins when a
visitor views their first page from the server, and ends when the visitor leaves the site or remains idle beyond the idle-time limit.
– Idle time limit is 30 minutes– State of CT does not allow cookies to track
visitors
WebTrends - Definitions
• Hits –– Each file requested by a visitor registers as a
hit.– There can be several hits on each page.– While the volume of hits reflects the amount of
server traffic, it is not an accurate reflection of the number of pages viewed.
WebTrends – Definitions
• Page –– Any displayed page, regardless of the number
of files needed to display
• Page View –– Each time a visitor views a page, it is a Page
View– Pages report tracks Page Views
WebTrends Version 8.0 – Pricing

WebTrends Version 8.0 –Best Practices
• Use WebTrends to enhance your site– What pages are being most hit?– Where are people leaving your site?– Where are they beginning their visit?– What files are being downloaded most?– How can navigation be improved?– Is your site compatible with most browsers and
platforms?
