ANIMALS IN SPREAD OF NEW VIRUS

LONDON -Britain's Health Protection Agency has published an early geneticsequence of the new respiratory virus related to SARS that shows it is mostclosely linked to bat viruses, and scientists say camels, sheep or goats might endup being implicated too.

So far, officials have only identified two confirmed cases and say the virus isn't asinfectious as SARS, or severe acute respiratory syndrome, which killed hundredsof people, mostly in Asia, in a 2003 global outbreak.

In Geneva, World Health Organization spokesman Glenn Thomas told reportersFriday that so far the signs are that the virus is "not easily transmitted from personto person" but analyses are ongoing. The agency said it's too early to tell howbig a threat the new virus will be since it is unknown how exactly it spreads andwhether it will evolve into a more dangerous form.

WHO is now working with experts in the Middle East to figure out how the twoconfirmed cases got infected but could not share details until the investigation wasfinished.

    SEGUNDA NOTICIA

Google and major book publishers have settled a lengthy legal battle over digitalcopyrights, but a bigger dispute still looms with thousands of authors who allegethat Google is illegally profiting from their works.

The truce ends a federal lawsuit filed in 2005 by several members of theAssociation of American Publishers after Google Inc. began stockpiling its Internetsearch index with digital duplicates of books scanned from libraries.

Google has maintained that its scanning is covered by fair-use provisions ofcopyright law and showed only snippets of the copyrighted books unlesspermission was given to show more.

Publishers and authors, however, insisted that Google needed explicit permissionfrom them before making the digital copies, let alone showing even snippets of text

from the books on Google's website.

The scaled-down agreement with publishers is likely to make more copyright-protected books available online. Most of those will be sold through Google Play, adigital store. Publishers will have the right to release digital copies of their books inGoogle Play orremove them from Google's search index entirely.

Out of the ruins of families that lost a precious child, sister or mother, glows one

bright spot: the stories of staff members at Sandy Hook Elementary School whomay have prevented further carnage through selfless actions and smart snap

    judgments.

After gunman Adam Lanza broke through the school door, gun blazing, schoolpsychologist Mary Sherlach and Principal Dawn Hochsprung ran toward him,Robinson said. Hochsprung died while lunging at the gunman, officials said. The 56-year-old Sherlach, who would have been tasked with helping survivorscope with the tragedy, died doing what she loved, her son-in-law, Eric Schwartz, said.

Victoria Soto, a 27-year-old teacher, reportedly hid some students in a bathroom orcloset and died trying to shield them from bullets, a cousin, Jim Wiltsie, told ABCNews. Those who knew Soto said they weren't surprised. In other cases, staffers both saved students and managed to escape with their ownlives.

One person who wasn't in the school at all also is being lauded for his grace:Robbie Parker, whose daughter Emilie died.Speaking to reporters Saturday, he said he was not mad and offered sympathy for

Lanza's family. "I can't imagine," he said, "how hard this experience must be foryou."

    HISTORIA DE TOMAS EDISON

One of the worlds most famous inventors, Thomas Edison made thousands ofattempts at creating a light bulb. He tried hundreds of materials for the light bulbfilament, but there was always a problem. Some would burn out.

Others would explode. Some would melt the glass. There were always problems, but he never gave up and he never saw his failure as a failure.

He just saw it as step towards success. Edison once said. I have not failed. I have

merely found 10,000 ways that wont work. This attitude of seeing failure as alearning experience helped him persevere. This way of thinking eventually led him

to Japan, where he found a kind of bamboo, which was the perfect material for hislight bulb invention.
