Original Idaho Goals

1. Increase volunteerism among mature adults in Idaho.

2. Create greater employment opportunities by connecting employers and mature adults.

3. Encourage employers in Idaho to adopt best employment practices to empower the aging workforce.

4. Increase statewide enrollment of mature adults in post-secondary education courses and lifelong learning opportunities.

Increase Volunteerism

1. Developed volunteer management training—SERVE Idaho.

2. Trained SCSEP participants to demonstrate and assist mature workers in the use of ICIS in Labor offices.—IDOL & ICOA.

3. Currently creating a link on the ICIS system for Mature Workers—IDOL.

4. Planned and conducted a Volunteer Fair—IDOL, SERVE Idaho & AARP.

Connect Mature Workers and Employers

• Mature Worker Job Fair collaborative event conducted October 4, 2008.

• Seven workshops were conducted to specifically aid mature workers and employers wishing to hire mature workers.

• 1,200 job seekers, 25 employers, and 10 service providers attended.

1. Survey completed by Tammy Perkins of the Governor’s Office regarding educational incentives for older individuals within Idaho post-secondary institutions.

2. Collected information about lifelong learning opportunities and educational programs to be listed on ADRC website.

3. Assessed the career, training, and educational interests of mature--Mature Worker Job Fair Survey.

3. Vista positions approved and recruited to assist on regional and local level to develop systems that enhance services to unemployed Idahoans.

Sustainability

1. The formal end to the Policy Academy occurs on December 31, 2009.

2. Request the Idaho NGA Policy Academy to continue in an advisory capacity.

3. Will continue to implement goals and strategies at the regional and state level via the Vista members.
