CHICKEN SOUP COMMITTEE

Pat Kramer 303 471 [email protected]

Sadly, it was necessary to send a sympathy card to Pam Thurman and her family because of the loss of her husband, Don, in an accident while he was climbing a fourteener. So sorry to hear of this, Pam.

Mel DelFellippie received a get well card as she recu-perates from pneumonia, the end result of an acciden-tal fall earlier. Mel was contacted to see if she needs the services of the Chicken Soup Committee, and cur-rently she replies that she does not. Keep resting, Mel!

Thank you to three additional members who signed up for the Chicken Soup Committee designed to assist our own if they are ill, injured, recuperating from sur-gery or experiencing extraordinary issues.

Please contact me, Pat Kramer at 303 471 5406, if you are aware of a need for Sunshine or Chicken Soup!

November BiographyJudi Prentice

Judi Prentice Artist; is our biography subject for November. She says her story is mirrored by “The Happy Days” TV program, as she grew up in Illinois. She even worked at the local drive-in! After high school, she worked toward being a flight attendant, but met the love of her life, and married Gordon. He was an avid golfer, and she happily began life with him fol-lowing golf tournaments. Gordon became a local golf celebrity tying Arnold Palmer in the local Ham Am tournament. They lived in Pittsburgh in the 60’s where she worked in Insurance.

Tragedy touched their lives when their first daughter died. They moved to California and became proud parents of 2 lovely daughters, moved back to Pitts-burgh and finally came to Colorado in the 70’s. Where they started their own insurance agency. They built a log home in Greenwood Village and started a new business: Real Log Homes of Colorado, and ran both businesses for the next 15 years. They sold a complex to the “Galloping Gourmet” of TV fame for a retreat.

Judi’s idyllic life was once more struck tragically when she lost her wonderful husband, lover and best friend, Gordon, in 1995.

She later retired from AT&T/Comcast and did small business consulting. She lives in Parker close by her daughters and a granddaughter.

She’s been painting and sketching since her first at-tempt at a mural on her 5th grade blackboard. After retirement she became a serious portrait painter. She loves the wrinkles and scars that reflect life stories and has a wonderful talent for bringing subjects to life. Occasionally, the light through a window on a bottle or a fallen apple catches her eye and she has to paint it immediately. Judi has been very successful in her much loved new career. She’s very active in the Parker Artist Guild and volunteers at the Senior Center.

We’re very happy to call Judi Prentice one of our own.
