Welcome to the first edition of the Property Advertiser, which I hope you will enjoy and find useful!

This exciting new magazine is being launched by the publishers of the Whitby

Advertiser, an established quality A5 glossy magazine now in its ninth year and publishing 112 pages every month with a doorstep distribution of 20,000 copies. Due to increased demand for advertising space in the Whitby Advertiser from local businesses we decided to publish the Property Advertiser which we plan to reach a more specific target market, by giving the opportunity for all property-related services to advertise in a large format, full-colour publication dedicated to property.

I would like to thank everybody who has welcomed me into their business this past month, giving me the opportunity to demonstrate and explain all the benefits and features of our new Property Advertiser and I look forward to meeting you again in the coming months, working with you to develop your adverts, plan your pages and ensuring we get your key messages across to our readers so as to get the best response. LIGHTINGGetting lighting right isn’t as hard as some believe, always start with assessing the natural light in a room and then consider what you use the room for, dining, snug, kitchen? Spaces likebathrooms and kitchens require brighter lighting which is when ceiling lights and spot lights are perfect.

STORAGEStorage is always important in interiors as we are natural hoarders, but this doesn’t mean we want all our hoardings on display. However using furniture like old trunks and armoires are a fantastic way to create stylish, multifunctional storage that can be-come focal points for all the right reasons.

PAINTPaint finishes are subject to personal taste; Matt finish is bang on trend at the moment as it adds depth and creates a rich, luxurious finish to any room it also helps hide imperfections. However the most popular finish is a satin finish, which has a slight sheen to it, reflects light and wipe-able which is perfect for family homes. Using a semi-gloss is great for skirting’s, doors, bathrooms and kitchens as the finish is durable, and has a water resistance, but avoid using in general living spaces as the finish can be quiet cold and clinical. High gloss can look amazing in the right environment, however if you have lumpy walls, this finish will show every imperfection and kill the look.
