Nancy Jean Cates (MacPherson)of Channelview Texas succumbed to her long battle with cancer on December 2, 2013. She was born on August 27, 1951 in Toms River, New Jersey to Donald and Annette MacPherson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Cates Sr., and father Donald R. Macpherson. Nancy is survived by her son David Lee Cates, daughter-in-law Christa and granddaughter Olivia.Her beloved son David and his daughter Olivia were the center of her universe. She is also survived by her siblings Scott, Brett,Shon, Dale, Bonnie and Crystal MacPherson, and Ginger Decker. She will forever be remembered by her very large family of 23 nieces and nephews and 34 great nieces and nephews. Nancy loved water and all of the fun activates that came with it. In 2005 she managed a private lake, which she named after her favorite dog Tiki. Nancy’s entire family helped her run Tiki Lake that summer. When they were not life guarding, they spent much of their time swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, and just enjoying being with one another. The summer that Nancy’s family spent at Tiki Lake continues to be the source of their most cherished memories together.
