Southern Cross University
Practicum Mentor of 2015
Last year Mrs Hawthorne was mentor to a 4th Year
practicum student from Southern Cross University.
The student was so grateful for the professional
knowledge and support provided to her that she
nominated Mrs Hawthorne for the university’s
annual mentor award.
Last week we found out that from the vast number
of nominations received it was our Mrs Hawthorne
that received the award. We very proudly
presented this to her at last Friday’s assembly.
Congratulations and well deserved!
P & C Meeting (with free childcare!)
Our P&C Meeting is tonight, Tuesday, 1st March. It
is our Annual General Meeting. We would really
love to have more parents participate in our P&C.
As such, the school will be providing childcare,
supervised by Melanie Reeves, one of our SLSOs.
Children will be able to play and/or watch a
video in KW’s classroom ensuring they are in the
building and have access to toilets. There will be
no cost attached to this.
School Photos
A reminder that school photos are taken next
week and that we require students to be in full
school uniform including black shoes. Thank you in
advance for your assistance in this matter.
Have a great week everyone!

Ride to School Day
MEPS Ride 2 SCHOOL is just around the corner! This
Friday 4th March, 2016!
Last year we celebrated an active travel day as
part of the National Ride 2 School Day with 100
people on wheels. We encouraged students and
their families to leave the car at home on this day
and get a taste of the benefits, ease and fun
involved in choosing to walk and wheel to school.
It was a huge success and we were very proud of
our fabulous achievement…so why not come
along and join us this year.
A few reminders for the day include:
All students on wheels are required to wear
helmets (this includes skaters and scooters)
All bikes are to be parked on the grass near
the flagpole
Cyclists
We will all meet at 8.10 am at QUEENS PARK
MURWILLUMBAH (soccer grounds opposite
showground) and leave the park at 8.15am.
As a group we will ride along Queensland Rd, turn
left onto the Main Street and continue along…
Riding Part way?
Why not join us at the town library.
Turn left onto Reynolds Street and then right onto
Charles Street.

Easter Egg Dioramas - Stage 2 & 3
MEPS EGGSPo
Oh what eggscitement! I am eggstatic as I
eggstend a warm welcome to you today. Please
eggscuse me for being so eggscited about this
eggsposition. It has eggsceeded all
eggspectations. You will share my eggsuberance
if you will let me eggsplain the eggspertise that
these eggspert eggsamples in the whole
eggsercise have eggsploited.
The eggstravaganza has been eggspertly
assembled by Murwillumbah East Primary School
students who have eggshausted themselves to
eggsert and eggstraordinary eggshibition, which I
think you will agree is truly eggsceptional.
We had little need to EGG on the students as we
eggschanged eggscellent ideas, that were very
eggsciting. You will find some ideas rather
eggscentric, while others
will bring you eggstacy. We
believe we eggsplored an
eggspress eggsultation with
our eggscursion into the word
eggcology.
All the reggular teachers have eggsecuted
eggsceptional skill and eggscavated rare designs
that were almost eggstinct. Some are
speggtacular! Their eggthusiam was not to be
eggstinguished!!
Diorama Display
Using any materials you have at your disposal
create a diorama/model to showcase an EGG
design you create. Use the “play on words” theme
from the Eggspo intro.
You could create a model showcasing Humpty
Dumpty, Meggcraft, an Egg Eggspress
rollercoaster or even Spongebob Eggpants. Turn
your favourite sports star, movie hero or book
character into an EGGY model. Be CREATIVE and
HAVE FUN!
