Great work

Over the past six weeks, our new student leaders

have embraced all leadership opportunities. House

Captains at the recent swimming carnival, SRC

finalising their plans for fundraising and

coordinating meetings in 2020 as well as our library

monitors going out of their way to support Mrs

Evans in the library. Our School Councillors have

already shown their organisation and initiative,

including running successful assemblies with very

limited (as it hasn’t been requested) support from

staff. Congratulations to these wonderful leaders. It

was great to recognise you all at the badging cer-

emony last week. Keep up the great work!

MEPS Big Breakfast

Thank you to our wonderful community who came

and joined us for breakfast. It is always such a lovely

morning to get together, share some breakfast,

gain some valuable insights and showcase our

dynamic classrooms. We trust you enjoyed the

morning. We have collated and taken your

feedback from our activities from the morning and

will share them over staff meetings adding a

community viewpoint to our strategic directions.

The parent feedback received was overwhelmingly

supportive of our school with some parents

highlighting dance, cultural experiences, Aboriginal

Education and further parent communication

methods as areas for further exploration.

P&C AGM postponed

Due to high schools running open days and

information evenings this week, our P&C has

advised that they would like to move the Annual

General Meeting back to Tuesday 17 March. This

provides 14 days notice and allows parents with

other commitments to attend these events without

a clash.

As many of our current P&C members have

children moving off (or have moved off) into high

school, this is a great opportunity to come and

learn more about our Murwillumbah East Public

School Parents and Citizens Association (MEPS

P&C). At these meetings, parents and the principal

get together with a common interest - to support

and to enhance our school to benefit our students,

staff and community.

See you soon, Miss Anderson

This Friday we will farewell Miss Anderson for the

remainder of the year as she is taking extended

leave. Miss Anderson is a long-term permanent staff

member who is incredibly passionate, dedicated,

extremely creative and a team player. We will miss

her dearly for the remainder of this year. Please be

sure to wish her all the best for the remainder of the

year and we look forward to welcoming her back

in 2021.

Update on Infrastructure Improvements

unable to lay turf last week as planned due to the

ongoing intermittent heavy rain. The rain caused

the top soil to become waterlogged and it needs

at least 48 hours of straight dry weather before it

can be installed.

It is hoped that the turf will be laid this week.

School photos

School Photos will be held Thursday 12 March in

our playground (weather permitting) and school

hall. Envelopes with ordering information have

been distributed. All students will have their photo

taken regardless of whether they return their photo

envelope. The photos will include a portrait and a

traditional class photo. Please note that late orders

to The School Photographer attract a $15

surcharge. If you haven’t already sent envelopes

back in, please return photo envelopes to our

office, please hand them directly to your class

teacher or photographer on the day of photos.

Sibling photo envelopes will be available from our

school office or when placing an online order.

All students should be in normal Thursday uniform

(not sport uniform). This includes black school

shoes. Girls should be wearing blue, white or red

hair accessories. If a student presents with other

colours in their hair or other excessive accessories,

students will be asked politely to remove them as

they are not school uniform. Thank you for your

understanding and cooperation.
