Story Dogs

Our school was very fortunate in having Story

Dogs visit our school each week last year. Story

Dogs is a program that enables students to read

to a dog and their handler. It is a way of

encouraging students to read in a non-

threatening environment. The program has shown

to be effective in assisting students in improving

their reading levels.

Story Dogs will begin visiting our Support Unit

students this week. Story Dogs is currently in need

of further volunteers to support students in other

classes in 2016. If you think you may be able to

volunteer or you know someone who may be able

please pass on the information below.

We are looking for volunteers with suitable dogs,

who are willing and able to spend 2 hours per

week reading with children. We would love to

involve you and your dog in improving the literacy

abilities and reading enjoyment of some of our

students.

For further information. Please see the Story Dogs

website www.storydogs.org.au or contact Bev

Jurd on 0401705539, or [email protected]

Life Education Van

A reminder that the Life Education Van is visiting

K-2 classes next week. If you haven’t returned your

permission note and money please have it

returned this week.

Daily News Kindergarten Photos

Each year, the Daily News creates a

“Kindergarten” special edition. They visit all the

schools in the Tweed area and take class photos

of each Kindergarten class. The Daily News has

informed us that they will be visiting on Monday

7th March. We look forward to seeing all our Kindy

students in the paper!

School Photos

Our 2016 school photos will be held on

Wednesday 9th March. Further information and

photo ordering forms will be given out as soon as

our school receives them from The School

Photographer.

Homework

Notes regarding homework will be sent out this

week. While our school encourages students to

complete homework each week we also

understand this can put stresses on family life. If

you don’t wish your child to complete homework,

please fill in the form and return it to the school

office.

Have a great week everyone!

SRC Cake Stall

Dear Parents

Just a friendly reminder that this Thursday is our

first cake stall for 2016, and all students are

invited to purchase cakes. A huge thank you to

5-6N, SRC and our School Councillors who are

supplying the goodies, we greatly appreciate

your donations of cakes, cupcakes, toffees,

slices, biscuits etc. If possible could your goodies

be sent into school in disposable containers.

Our cake stall will operate during first break and

EVERYTHING IS 50 cents. This is the first cake stall

fund raiser conducted by our SRC

(Student Representative Council) and it would

be wonderful if our whole school community

supported their efforts.

Many Thanks

SRC and Ms Noble
