Has Spring sprung? The first few days back after half term have seen glorious weather, hopefully a foretaste of the summer to come?

The first of March signals the start of spring for meteorologists in the UK but not astronomers, they wait for the vernal equinox on the 20th March.

One of the joys of spring in school is that topics on growing and nature really get started and the wide green outdoor spaces we have in school come to life and get used by classes. This week, Year 1 started by planting seeds outside so any spills of compost didn’t get on the carpet and Year 2 went on a signs of spring hunt! They were looking for clues that the warmer weather was on the way!

However Spring weather in the UK is known for being very mixed and changeable, one day sunny and warm, the next day wet! This means that coats and jumpers get worn to school but as the weather gets warmer, they come off!

This is okay but children don’t always put them back on pegs or drawers so, please make sure that all uniform is named so any lost items can be quickly and easily returned.

The 1st of march is celebrated in Wales as St David’s day when people wear daffodils or leeks and an old tradition is celebrated throughout Romania called Mărțișor, where red and white bands adorn trees until the trees bloom or worn on the wrist of ladies. So, if you are one of our families celebrating Mărțișor, we wish you all a happy and prosperous year!

Weekly Challenge

We will CHALLENGE ourselves every day, in and out of school, to extend our experiences and widen

our knowledge.

This week’s challenge is linked to World Book Day on

Thursday March 7th

Challenge 6… Create a homemade costume!

Don’t splash out on buying the same costume as everyone else at a superstore but have a go at making your own!

Some families have got very creative in the past!

The rainbow fish! The tiger that came to tea. Pippa Long Stocking, The Cat in the Hat & The Worst Witch!

If you search online you may be able to come up with a few easy to make ideas—just remember those safe searching skills! So pick a book you love to read or a character from a book and get creative.

Please use the paths!

Could we remind all pupils and parents to use the paths when coming into school as some people are taking a short cut and the grass is looking pretty bedraggled!

Parents’ Evening

Monday 4th & Tuesday 5th March

You will have received a slip to tell you the day and time for your appointment. If you have lost it, don’t worry, the appointment lists will be in your child’s classroom. We look forward to seeing you all.

Internet Safety for Parents.

Wednesday 6th March 9am

MOMO —Is it a Hoax or is It Real?

Actually it doesn’t matter! As parents we can never be 100% up to date on the latest APP or issue our

children are using—especially as they get older. But we don’t have to be as there is lots we can do to keep

them safe.

Over half term Mr Connolly went on Training to be-come a CEOP Ambassador so we can make sure as

a school we do all we can to keep children safe online in school and at home.

He will be holding a Parent Workshop for 45 minutes on Wednesday Morning for all parents—not just KS2!
