Official Newsletter . March 2013 . Volume 4, Issue 3

Born in Tripoli in 1968, Kal Gajoum entered his first art competition when he was a mere ten years old. Shortly thereafter, he was introduced to oil painting and pal-ette knife techniques at the famed Leonardo Da Vinci School of Art in Rome. He spent the next several years dedicating himself to furthering his technique. In 1983 he was invited to hold his first exhibition in Tripoli at age 15.

ICE CREAM SOCIAL – MARK YOUR CALENDARS

“Always remember that the future comes one day at a time.”

There I go with my favorite quotes again. But you have no doubt noticed that we have had some changes in our tenant mix.

One store moves out, another moves in, another moves to a new lo-cation and stays herein. I really didn’t try to make that rhyme. As the saying goes, “change is good.”

A thriving business isn’t one that necessarily adapts to change but rather sets the trend or the benchmark that others will adapt to. In that light we are always looking for opportunities to “up our game” or “raise the bar” through improving everything we do, including the quality of the stores that make up The Shops at Wailea.

The Art of Peter Max, Swarovski, Canyon Beachwear and L’Occitane are but a few examples of “change is good.” In the coming months there may be more changes and subsequent improvements, all to ensure our standing as “the finest shopping and dining experience on Maui.”

Speaking of dining, Ronald Reagan once quipped that “all great change in America begins at the dinner table.”

So might I suggest you try one of our five fabulous restaurants and experience it yourself?

Aloha,

Robert “Bob” DyeGeneral Manager, CBRE

ANTHONY (TONY) WILLIAMS of

CHEESEBURGER ISLAND STYLE is a newcomer to Maui, having resided in the favorite getaway of many island residents (Vegas, baby!) for the past fourteen years. Tony has over twenty years of food & beverage, entertain-ment/recreation and marketing experi-ence. He honed his management skills with employers such as Lagasse’s Stadi-um at the Palazzo, The 40/40 Club Las Vegas at the Palazzo, and Desert Pines Golf Club.

When time allows (not always easy when you manage and maintain a staff of 50-60 employees), you’ll find Tony playing golf or fishing, enjoying his fa-vorite BBQ foods, or catching up on the arts and entertainment scene around the island.
