The first-annual “Grown on Maui Coffee Festival at The Shops at Wailea” will take place in the center’s lower courtyard Saturday, August 4 from 10am to 4pm. The free event, in partnership with the Maui Coffee Asso-ciation, is a first-of-its-kind for south Maui, and will showcase the island’s unique bean and brew. Guests will have an opportunity to interact with Maui coffee growers, learn what makes the island’s offerings unique, and sample an array of brews and coffee-related edibles.

Wailea Resort on the inaugural Wailea Wine & Food Festi-

val to be held December 6-9, 2012.

The four-day culinary extravaganza will showcase wines, Wail-ea resort chefs, award-winning cuisine and Maui’s rich bounty of ranch, ocean and farm fresh products.

The couple, shown here with gallery owner Gerard Marti, was on Maui to participate in the Eighth Annual June Jones Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic at Makena Beach and Golf Resort. The June Jones Foundation (JuneJonesFoundation.org) is dedicated to improving the quality of life for needy families of children with life-threatening ill-nesses.

These pierced koa bowls are created exclusively for Martin & Macarthur by a husband-wife craftsman team. Patrick creates the thin koa bowls on a lathe, and Peggy takes over with a dentist drill to individually cut each hole. No lasers and no patterns are used. All by hand.
