LETTER FROM THE G.M.

“RISE” TO THE OCCASION

If you stop by The Shops at Wailea management office, you might notice a picture on the wall that simply reads “RISE.” Indeed we have had more than a few inquire about this and why it holds such a prominent position in the office. RISE represents Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence, the cornerstones of the CB Richard Ellis ‘Standards of Excellence’ that is an important part of what we do every day. It reinforces our mission to deliver superior results for our merchants and guests alike.

One of our most important standards at The Shops is minimizing our environmental impact, striving to leave as small a footprint as possible, ensuring that the land will be here for generations to come. Now there is a lot of talk today about caring for the ‘aina, or the land ... but is it real or is it Memorex? (Now I’m really dating myself!) In short, do we walk the walk and take a strong position in support of environmental sustainability?

We have an aggressive green initiative that touches everything we do, from recycling and energy conservation, to our cleaning methods and products, down to how we handle used florescent light tubes. Is this really important or am I simply bloviating? Think about it - the beauty of our ‘aina is the major reason people from around the world visit us in the first place and no doubt the determining factor for subsequent visits.

So I ask ... are you a kahu malama ‘aina ... or “guardian of the land?” I hope so. But if you need some help in developing sustainable practices or recycling programs, give us a ring or stop in at the management office and we’ll be happy to share some ideas.

Mahalo nui loa ho`i mai,

Robert “Bob” DyeGeneral Manager, CB Richard Ellis

Each Wednesday is highlighted by gallery receptions, artist appearances and one-night-only shop and restaurant specials.
