FAMILY AND ESTATE

I. Grey Manuscripts: A large collection of administrative records of the former Bradgate Estate of the Earls of Stamford and Warrington. It includes Rentals, 1857-1926; Day Books, 1896-1914; Cash Books, 1874-1926; Ledgers, 1915-33; Labour books, 1897-1913; numerous Estate Plans, together with Estate Reference Books; Valuation and Survey, 1857, and copy Leases and Papers of the Groby Granite Co., late 19th and early 20th cent. These papers are complementary to the deposit made in 1957, which comprises the muniments of title and legal papers of the Bradgate Estates.

2. Hazlerigg Manuscripts (third deposit): Muniments of Title, 17th-19th cents., of the Hazlerigg estates in Leics., Northants., and Northumberland; Papers re proposed sales of coal mines in Northumberland and property in Northants., 1813-18; Legal Papers; and deeds, rentals, suit papers and survey (17th cent.) for the Hundred of Gartree. 3. Prestwold Hall Manuscripts (third deposit): Deeds of properties in Burton-on­the-Wolds purchased by Sir Edward Hussey Packe in 1920. These are supplementary to the major deposit of the Prestwold Hall archives made in 1955.

4. Witherley Estate (second Deposit): Muniments of Title, 17th to 19th cents., of the former Chamberlain Estate at Witherley which is now the property of Lord O'Neill. These documents supplement the first deposit, made in 1958, which consists mainly of 19th-cent. deeds to the Estate.
