January 21 - MLK Birthday Observance

Let me be the first to wish you

“Happy New Year!” I say the first, because I am assuming you are reading this sometime in December, a few days

prior to January 1! Are Diane and I looking forward to the new year? You bet we are! By the time you get this

we may be grandparents for the first time. Jeff and Shawna are expecting Oliver on January 3.

We’ll keep you in touch! Anyway, I hope you had a very

“Merry Christmas!” God’s blessings upon you and your family for 2013!

Ken

Phil Fershee came to me before worship on December 16 and asked if he could make an announcement during worship. That’s not an unusual request – often people want to make an announcement about one thing or another. It’s what he

said next that was unusual: “But I don’t want to make it during the usual announcement time.” I know I looked at him kind of funny. So he said, “Trust me!” So Phil got his way! What a blessing when he presented Diane and me with several gift cards to various places to eat as part of Pastor’s Appreciation Day. Tim Leahy repeated the task in the 2nd service (obviously I knew what was up then) so that he could also present some gift cards to Alysia. Let me say “thanks” to all of you – your generosity is greatly appreciated. Diane and I will

indeed enjoy dining out as your gift to both of us. - Ken
