Save a life this year!

MARK YOUR CALENDAR!

The Annual Meeting will be held on Feb. 12. We will have one service that

Sunday at 10:00 a.m. A light lunch and the meeting will follow the worship service.

will continue their study of “Confessing the

Beatitudes.” Join us on February 28 at 1PM as we

enjoy food, fellowship and Bible Study. We invite

all women of the Church. If you have any questions

please contact Barb Mourouzis at 748-3049.

We hope you’ll join us at our next meeting on Feb. 13 at

6:30 p.m. Our January meeting was cancelled so Betty

King will be leading us this month on Lesson 6 of Max

Lucado’s book, “James.” Though this book is much like

Proverbs, we have found abundant reason & instruction for

the Christian purpose in living and serving. It’s a great

study. We meet in the small room next to Ken’s office.

Bring a friend and join us!

The Totals are in for the 2011 Alternative Gift Market

The 2011 Alternative Gift Market raised $19,011. 2011 was the 5th year for the

market, and we have raised over $100,000 during the past 5 years. Thanks

to everyone who helped: ornaments makers, booth and checkout workers, etc.

Hopefully your alternative gifts were appreciated by their recipients as much as

they were appreciated by the organizations you helped. For more details on how

much money was raised by each project, see the display on the

church bulletin board.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Buy a scrip card

to your favorite restaurant and help the Church at the

same time. We have many different cards in stock. See

John Ritzinger in-between services to find the perfect one!

We have several available here at Covenant. Bill Ilg will be starting up his Sunday Night Small Group again on February 12 as they study the book of

John. They meet every other Sunday from 6:30-8PM. Ken’s Wednesday Morning Bible Study is also studying the book of John each week at 10:00AM.

Steve Hegwood leads a Bible Study on Thursdays, every other week. See Steve for more information. Why not join a group this year?

We will have only one service today

– 10:00 a.m. A light lunch and our

on this first Sunday of Lent.

Remember the survey we took last fall? We set aside the sermon time at both services and

those in attendance (88 people) took the “US Congregational Life Survey.” Well, the results

are in and it’s time to discover what the survey reveals about who we are as a congregation.

I began to read through the material sent to us. My intent was to figure out what we should

now do with the material in order to allow it to help us understand ourselves better. After a

few hours of reading and deciphering, I was no closer to knowing the appropriate direction to

take than when I started. With which of three reports should we begin? Which book went

with which report? How do I use the enclosed DVDs? Frustrated, I called Louisville and

explained my frustration. I said, “What would have been nice was a single sheet of directions

giving us the various options to follow in using the results of the survey.” I was trying to be

kind and polite, yet clear! The person in Louisville responded: “We’ve heard that a lot from

lots of churches!” I was not surprised!

Anyway, there are two reports that we will consider initially. First, there is a compilation of

all our answers. We will make that report available to all of you. It simply puts percentages

with every question the survey asked.

Second, there is a report that I will be sharing with the session and the deacons. We will be

spending a couple of hours together on February 4th to attempt to interpret our answers to the

questions and try to understand better who we are. We’ll look at four areas:

1. Building Spiritual Connections (our devotional and worship life)

2. Building Inside Connections (group activities within Covenant)

3. Building Outside Connections (connecting with people beyond the church)

4. Building Identity Connections (our values and dreams)

With that in mind, we may take some steps to improve who we are and what we’re doing.

From there we’ll see what the session wants to do next.

I’m excited to spend some time with the officers of CPC as we explore the results of the

survey. We’ll let you know what we discover.
