our guest preacher on July 1 and 8; and to Rev. Jan Dillaman, former pastor of St. Luke Presbyterian Church of

Middletown, on July 15 and 22. We’re so glad to have you!

See page 5!

It’s vacation time! Amicae Circle is taking a break and will resume

our monthly meetings in September. Have a

great summer!

SAY CHEESE!

Join us as we dive into our final two chapters of Max Lucado’s book of James. We’ll discuss chapters 11 & 12

on July 9th at 6:30 p.m. This has been a good study as it has really enforced and expanded our Proverbs study.

We’ll be selecting a new study soon. If you have any ideas, this would be a good time to join us. Bring a friend, too!

Temperature wise it would appear summer started about a month ago with the very high temperatures back in May. Will July be hotter? I certainly hope not. Summer is off to a good start here at CPC. Our youth (8 teens and 2 adults) ventured to Charleston, WV, for their annual mission trip. I was at the church when they arrived back at CPC. What enthusiasm I saw from all 10 travelers. On June 17th we watched and listened as some of them shared a bit of their experience. On June 17th we also enjoyed our annual early summer picnic. We moved it to Patricia Allyn Park this year. Those who attended had a great time. Food is always great, the chefs do a great job, and the fellowship was awesome. We’ve moved to one service for the rest of the summer. I know some of you don’t like going to one service – music is the issue, no matter on what side of the fence you sit! But be sure and join us as we worship with people we perhaps have missed during the school year. In July you’ll have a chance to hear a couple of other pastors lead you in worship while I am gone, first to the Christian Life Conference, sponsored by Presbyterians for Renewal, at Montreat, North Carolina, then 3 weeks of vacation. David Judd lives in Wilmington, served the Presbyterian Church there, and is moving in late July to Florida to begin a new call. David and I have served together on the presbytery’s Committee on Preparation for Ministry. He will be with us on July 1st and 8th. Jan Dillaman has most recently been pastor of St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church in Middletown. I first met her when she was serving as the student pastor at New Jersey Presbyterian Church in Carlisle. Jan will be with us on July 15th and 22nd. July sees preparation for VBS go into full swing, though I believe Erica has already been there for a couple of months. What a great time VBS will be. An incredible effort by many at CPC will make “Sky” a great week for over 100 children. If you can help with your time or your donations, there’s still plenty of time to come forward. Summer is a time when the small groups take a break. I have certainly enjoyed the 2 groups I have led through John’s gospel. But I hope none of us are taking a break from church! If you’re traveling, find a place to worship and experience what other churches are doing. If you’re in town, be sure and worship with CPC. Let’s fill up the house and praise the Lord all summer long. Ken
