    Vision Statement

Incarnation Parish is a Roman Catholic community centered around the Lord Jesus, a living sign of hope to all that the Word made flesh dwells among us. His presence and love is encountered in all areas of our life together, especially in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in Sacred Scripture and in the Sacraments. We seek to make the Lord's presence and love known through service and edu-cation, through evangelization and through con-tinual conversion and renewal in Him. We entrust our life together and our sharing in the mission of Christ to the protection and intercession of Mary,

Mother of the Lord and our Mother.

    CHRISTMAS GIFT TO MY CHURCH.

A special Christmas collection for the parish

is being taken up now during Christmastide.

The Christmas letter from the pastor asks

that every parishioner prayerfully make a

fair share offering during this holy season.

Extra Christmas collection envelopes are in

the church today for those who did not re-

ceive the mailing. The whole Pastoral Staff thanks you in

advance for your Christmas Gift to YOUR Church.

Feast of Faith Series: This Is The Mass: The

Source and Summit of Who We

Are!~ We invite everyone who would like to

explore our Catholic Faith more deeply to

come and reflect on Holy Mass throughout

this coming year. The next of the sessions—

“The Liturgy of the Word - The Word of God

is Like a Two-edged Sword” takes place

Tuesday, January 21 at 7:30PM. Save the dates for future

sessions on Feb 18 and May 12 - all Tuesdays at 7:30.

  • AND A VOICE CAME FROM THE HEAVENS, SAYING, “THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, WITH WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED.”

    FROM THE PASTOR’S PEN

I was ordained a priest on June 26, 1993. As great as that day was I cannot just see that event as one day. When

I woke up this morning I was ordained a priest. No bishop, choir or family was present but I was still ordained. For

those of you who were married 47, 32, 18 or 2 years ago try explaining to your spouse that your marriage vows were

only valid for that one day. Good Luck with that!

As we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord it gives us ample opportunity to reflect not on the day of our Baptism

once upon a time, but on the reality of what it means to be a Baptized Christian in the present. When Jesus was

Baptized, the Father’s Voice reaffirmed that this was His Son with whom He was well pleased. Through our Baptism

we are adopted by that same Father. We are pleasing to Him. Do you feel any different from those who are not

Baptized? Hard to say, I guess, but we have to be different; act different; see things different because of our relationship

with our Heavenly Father. We make the Sign of the Cross so often that it’s hard to separate the Father, Son and Holy

Spirit. Then why is it so easy to separate ourselves from our Father in Heaven?

On the day of His Baptism, Jesus begins His Public Ministry. He leaves behind the peace and security of the

town and home of Nazareth. His Mission is to be Son to His Father and please God in all His works. On the day of our

Baptism we are commissioned with the same tasks: to be a Child of God and to please Him. The details are different

for each of us but the Mission is the same. Sadly we get bogged down in the details and forget the greater task at hand.

After fifty-two years, I’m still striving to live out the Mission as Child of God and be pleasing to the Father. The details

are different every year; a fact that makes things both exciting and difficult.

As this new year begins I ask that you reflect on how you are a Child of God. What in your life is Godly? How

do you feel connected with your brothers and sisters who also are numbered as Children of God. 2020 will give us

ample opportunities to please our Father in Heaven. The majority of those opportunities will be through worshiping

God (old fashioned coming to Mass) and serving our neighbor (old fashioned kindness and understanding).

This Mission came to us on the day of our Baptism and like ordination and marriage it’s something lived out

    each day.

    God Bless!

    The Shepherd Speaks

This feast makes us rediscover the gift and the

beauty of being a community of baptized, that is, of

sinners — we all are sinners — saved by the grace

of Christ, truly integrated, by the work of the Holy

Spirit, in the filial relationship of Jesus with the Father, wel-

comed into the bosom of Mother Church, making possible a

brotherhood that knows no barriers or borders.

May the Virgin Mary help all of us Christians to

maintain an ever keen and grateful awareness of

our own Baptism and to faithfully follow the path

opened by this Sacrament of our rebirth. Ever with

    humility, gentleness and firmness.

through regular use of the envelopes. We can also help you

with letters of recommendation for employment, schools,

etc. Your registration will also help us with our parish cen-

sus in knowing the number of Catholics in the

Hollis/Queens Village area. Thank you and welcome.

    2019 ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL

$47,005. Our parish goal is $46,535.

Once again we look forward to a success-

ful pledge drive at Incarnation mindful

that every penny collected over goal returns to the parish.

If you have never given to the appeal before please con-

sider doing so this year. Pledge envelopes are by the doors

of the church. With the participation of every parishioner

we are guaranteed success! Remember Faith & Good

    tends our Masses to register

in our parish. This will give

to serve you better with your needs.

pray in a special way for the re-

pose of the soul of a loved one or

    available each day with announced

    Mass offerings. You may choose

    to commemorate a death anniver-

    sary, wedding anniversary, birth-

    NEW NATIVITY STATUES. To

    help celebrate our Parish Feast,

    the Liturgy Committee last year

    decided to get additional figures

for the Nativity scene to be

    placed in our church each

Christmas. If anyone would like to memorialize any of the

new Nativity statues please contact the rectory. A plaque

hangs each Christmas Season near the Nativity with the

listing of the individuals to remember in prayer. Available

for Memorializing: Shepherds, ox, donkey, sheep and

lamb. Please call Fr. O’Connor for more information.

CHRISTMAS PLANTS that decorate our church through-

out the Christmas Season may be donated. You may wish

to donate IN MEMORY OF or IN HONOR OF a loved

    one. The donation is $15.00.

    Christmas donation envelopes are

available in the church today. It is

    only through your generosity that

our church is decorated so beauti-

    fully for Advent and Christmas.

Please return your offering in the

collection or at the Parish Office.

FUEL COLLECTION. On Jan 19 the annual “Fuel Col-

lection” will take place. There is an additional envelope in

the church packet that requests your generous contribution

to defray the costs of the parish buildings. Needless to say,

like your own homes, everyone is hit hard during the winter

months. We ask every parishioner to be as generous as

possible so that our parish buildings may remain warm and

comfortable for everybody. Extra white “Fuel Collection”

envelopes are in the church today for those who did not

receive it in the mail. Thank you for your help.

and Christian thing to do! It’s

    the neighborly thing to do!

following all the morning Masses today.

Please join us in Msgr. Nolan Hall and share
