10.30am From the Twelve Apostles to the Swastika StoneA walk around the edge of Ilkley Moor.

Meet: Outside Ilkley Train Station Distance: 7 miles (4 hours)Bring: Walking gear, lunch and drink. Guide: Colin Speakman

10.30am Moor and Dale Guided walk across Ilkley Moor, back into Wharfedale and then onto Otley.

11.00am Dales Way Taster 7 mile guided circular walk in the picturesque Wharfe Valley. Come and enjoy this countryside ramble along field tracks and paths.

2.00pm Ilkley Blue Plaques Walk A walk looking at the villas of west Ilkley with their blue plaques.

Meet: Outside Ilkley Visitor Information Centre, Station Road Distance: 1.5 miles (1.5 – 2 hour stroll) Bring: Suitable footwear Guide: Helen Kidman, Ilkley Civic Society 2.00pm Ilkley Moor’s Woodlands Way This two hour guided walk winds in and out of the woods that form the lowest slopes of Ilkley Moor.

Grove Bookshop, 10 The Grove, Ilkley.Bill Mitchell is an award-winning author who was recently voted the Yorkshire Dales National Park’s greatest living cultural icon. “Herriot A Vet’s Life” is Bill Mitchell’s latest book, which details the life of Alf Wight better known as James Herriot. Fully supported by Alf’s son, James Wight, this fully illustrated book contains a wealth of unpublished material from the family archive. Join us for this lively and informal talk and book signing. Wine, soft drinks and nibbles will be provided. Tickets priced £2.50 and are available from the Visitor Information Centre and The Grove Bookshop

10.30am, Denton and Middleton A 6.5 mile walk on the north side of the River Wharfe through fields and woodland.

Meet: The south side of The Old Bridge, Stockeld Road. SE 112480. Distance: 6.5 miles Bring: Walking gear, lunch and drink. Guide: Keith Brown

1.30pm Cause & Effect: Human Influence on the LandscapeTo meet at Manor House Museum to look at prehistoric flint artefacts and other archaeological evidence before walking up onto Rombalds Moor to see how it relates to the landscape it came from.

2.00pm Sporting Ilkley A Heritage Open Day Event, meet at the Railway Station Ilkley for a walk around sporting Ilkley. Your guide will be Helen Kidman of the Ilkley Civic Society.

9.45am Launch of the south pennines Walk & Ride FestivalRiddings Hall, Riddings Road, Ilkley

Come and join us over a cup of tea in Riddings Hall, from 9.45am, browse different outdoor groups’ stalls and pick up local walking information. The official launch will take place at 10am and the hall will be open until 4pm for browsing.
